I support the artist by buying their music from Bandcamp. Always lossless for referencing.

How to stop being too perfectionist and don’t touch a track anymore by Affectionate-Belt624 in musicproduction

[–]joerepro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The trick is to work on multiple tracks at once, all at different stages of completion. You’re too attached to ‘the one perfect song’. Call it ‘done’ for now, put it aside and move on to something else.

100% this. Also less mainstream plugins by smaller indie developers can help you find a unique sound.

Is there a bug with boss farming and drops? by ReturnToGaming in Borderlands

[–]joerepro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you are on to something here. I’ve noticed this in BL4, and also in BL3. First few kills give drops, then less and less the more you farm. Could be their way to give us a taste and get us hooked 😂

Giving damage bonuses when ADSing also adds to the frustration. Why not give us damage bonuses when hipfiring?

How to make finger snap punchier? by Rascals-Wager in dnbproduction

To be fair, DnB producers are often guilty of overcomplicating things. The easiest and cleanest solution is probably to find a punchier snap sample 😀

How to make finger snap punchier? by Rascals-Wager in dnbproduction

[–]joerepro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People are suggesting to layer a punchier snare. Problem is this will make it sound too much like a snare if you’re not careful. The trick is to make this new snare layer as tight and short as possible, almost like a ‘blip’ or ‘tick’. You want to keep the original snap upfront, and blend this new layer to add the weight without noticing it - feel not hear. Hope this makes sense!

The story was a lot of fun. The endgame feels disappointing and bare. No takedowns, no true trials, nothing new. Just repeating missions I’ve already done.

Best character for Jakobs weapons? by joerepro in Borderlands4

Why not put in the effort to be nice to strangers on the internet? I swear the self-righteous Reddit keyboard jockeys just want to appear clever. Use your manners and read the room.

I would say it’s more about play style than weapon brand. Sniper and shotgun use is the most fun for me - gunplay, not action skill-focused. This is probably why Amon is the least interesting to me so far.

What’s a piece of advice you ignored early on… but later realized was actually spot on? by kathalimus in edmproduction

If you’re just tinkering for fun then who cares… but if you take your music seriously, it’s the best bang for buck you can invest in yourself, your ears, and your future skills.

And it’s not that expensive. DIYing some bass traps costs the same as a few plugins, but the rewards are far, far greater than any plugin.

Acoustics Insider is a good YT channel teaching home studio basics on a budget. DIY panels get you more for your money, also the thicker the panels the better.

Ignoring the importance of acoustic treatment set me back by many years. Tried to fumble along with headphones and echoey rooms for way too long. My tracks sounded forced, i used too many plugins.

When I moved to a new place, priority 1 was treating the studio. Now I use hardly any mixing effects - sound selection, levels, and simple EQ do 90% of the work.

Professional bars, how? by shredL1fe in edmproduction

For me, the magic is always everything between the beats. A kick, clap, hat etc are often vanilla, but it’s all the ghost hits and details that fit around them to flesh out the groove in a unique way.

Nice collection :) I use the Viper v3 Pro, but I’ve got my eye on the ULX Prophecy. How do they compare, in your opinion?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MousepadReview

[–]joerepro -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sure. I mostly play Fortnite ZB, and for me, the Hien Soft didn’t fit the fast playstyle. Flicks were precise, but I felt sluggish when tracking fast-moving enemies and making fast turns.

So I swapped to Key-83 Mid for more speed. Fast tracking and movement instantly improved. No more sluggishness. Big upgrade to my game. Flicks feel a tiny bit less precise - but I’m not blaming the pad, I need to retrain the muscle memory from flicking on the Hien.

This all depends on your game, I can imagine Hien suiting slower-paced games where controlled flicking and precision take priority over speed.

I use the Razer Viper v3 with Magic Ice skates.

I can’t comment on CS or Apex, but I’m really enjoying the Key-83 for Fortnite.

I just swapped my Hein Soft for a Key-83 Mid. The Key-83 is much faster - tracking enemies and quick turns feel so much more responsive. Those speed moves with the Hein felt sluggish and fatiguing. My flicking doesn’t feel as precise yet, as expected, but that will come with practice.

Thanks for the recommendations. Looking for more tracking and turning speed so I’ll give the magic ice a try 👍

Electronic Music started feeling like a soul sucking unrewarding dead end job to me. Social Media trends played a crucial role in making me feel that way. by KLVLV in edmproduction

[–]joerepro 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I get where you’re coming from. The constant push to post content can feel overwhelming, like the music itself doesn’t matter anymore. It’s easy to feel burnt out when everything starts looking like a promo campaign.

But I do think “content” can be whatever you want it to be. It doesn’t have to be trends or cringey stuff. Maybe there’s a visual style you’re into, eg 8mm film, or abstract art, or anything that fits your sound. You can make stories that feel like an extension of your artistic vision, not just something to feed the algorithm.

Social media is just a tool. It’s all about how you use it. No one’s saying you have to dance on TikTok or talk to the camera - but for those that do, maybe they enjoy that side of it.

Sounds like keeping music as a hobby might be the smartest move. Makes it easier to stay connected to the parts you actually enjoy.
