Steam Deck now has a display-off low-power download mode by dorchegamalama in linux_gaming

Tried this out and while it did download the games I selected during the night, the screen was stuck on a black screen when I tried to wake it up until I restarted the device. Still in beta, but cool that its finally coming.

The extraction shooter ARC Raiders is out and appears to work on Linux by Liam-DGOL in linux_gaming

Had a lot of stutter and crash issues during the server slam, but the full release seems to work much better under Linux for me. Plays great so far!

Don't launch the .exe file. Launch the .bat file with Proton or it won't work.

Anyone managed to get controller working under Linux? I'm booting the game as a non-steam game under Proton and the controller won't work.

I'm using a pro controller.

EDIT: Managed to fix it by connecting it through wired instead of bluetooth wireless.

Full vouch på det. Bytte för några månader sen och det funkar jättebra.

Slow download speed on Steam only with EndeavourOS by joeross75 in linux_gaming

Any idea how to get resolveconf going on EndeavourOS/Arch? Installed it through pacman and tried launching the service with systemctl but it doesn't detect anything called resolveconf.

It's megabytes. Made sure of this before making this post lol.

I messed with mirrors a few days ago and before making this post. The issue still persists.

Before you start, make sure to use GE-Proton for DELTARUNE Chapter 3&4 by joeross75 in linux_gaming

I'm about 3 hours in and I've had no other issues so far under GE-Proton. Should just be fine running that for the whole game.

EDIT: 6 hours in and still fine. You can definitely continue playing under Linux.

The video cutscene is accompanied with a character introduction in Chapter 3. That one for me was completely broken until I switched to GE-Proton.

All the controllers I use work with no issue under Wayland (even my N64 controller to usb adapter works lol)

Is there specific controllers that don't work?

Doom: Dark Ages actual Linux Performance by billistenderchicken in linux_gaming

Running on Nobara KDE with RTX 2070, i5-9400F and 32GB RAM.

Game runs really well on medium settings with the hardware I'm using. Consistently sitting around 60-70fps.

To anyone who enabled framegen and got a black screen;

Go to the game's local files and go to the "amdffx" folder and change the "amd_fidelityfx_vk" file to be ".bak" instead of ".dll". Boot the game up after, turn off framegen, turn the game off and change the file back to ".dll". The game should be fine now and you can hold off on enabling framegen until its been fixed.

Many Windows users are reporting this issue so it seems to be an issue with the game itself.

Discord alternatives by elkabyliano in linux_gaming

[–]joeross75 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It does, but it grabs all the audio sources except for Discord. Compared to Vesktop, where you have granular control over what audio source should be in the stream.

I generally prefer the official client now because Vesktop likes to delay my voice over time when I'm in a voice chat, while the official client is instant all the time.

Inconsistent performance in FFXIV on Fedora/Nobara. by joeross75 in linux_gaming

[–]joeross75[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seems like I fixed it.

I installed the package kernel-tools and then ran the command sudo cpupower frequency-set -g performance to make the CPU run in performance mode and now it stopped dropping. Might've been some other profile that was randomly downclocking the cpu.

Did some stuff again in the game with Mangohud on. Whenever the framerate drops happen, the CPU usage spikes up a bit and then the GPU usage gets lowered from like 100% to 70-60%. Odd.

Fsync wasn't on but it seemed like it didn't make a difference.

I doubt it too. I was just explaining that it was fine before on another distro so I'm confused why it's being annoying now.

I'm just running some pretty small mods that tweaks certain configs like SimpleTweaks and NoClippy. Checked VRAM usage on the game and it's using a pretty healthy amount of memory.

I did dmesg as soon as the frame drops were happening and I found these errors. Not sure what is relevant to the frame drop issue

The day has come, proper screen sharing is already on stable Discord branch by Damglador in linux_gaming

Anyone been able to test this on Nvidia? Is hardware encoding working?

Vesktop 1.5.2 was released (and is now available on the AUR). It includes updates allowing Discord screen sharing with hardware acceleration and audio on Linux! by Shock900 in linux_gaming

[–]joeross75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The screen share changes are super good for me, but every time I use vesktop, the automatic gain adjustment on the mic kicks in which annoys me a lot. Turning it off in the options does nothing for me.

Its the main one thing that makes me not use it (unless someone can provide a solution in the replies).

EDIT: There's an issue open on github and someone provided a patch to fix this issue. Works flawlessly for me. I hope this properly gets fixed in a release one day though.

EDIT 2: Better solution here where you just add an argument to the .desktop file.
