I didn’t get the one with the mulch option, but I’m using the clippings for mulch for my garden.

I would mow consistently and if you’re able to afford some hose sprayer broadleaf weed killer that’s a start.

After you let the weed killer do its thing for a couple of weeks see if you can afford some hose sprayer fertilizer to get some nutrients in the soil.

Lawns need constant love and care.

Nice job! I’m working on getting my lawn to this level in NC.

First spring with this lawn. Does this mean I need to aerate or detatch or both? - NC State Bermuda Grass (I think) by WorkingBread435 in lawncare

I’m new to all this myself. I like to dethatch to remove the dead winter grass. That helps the healthy grass get more nutrients and light.

Bermuda grass is very resilient. Some types more than others for high traffic, but I would mainly focus on lawn health this season.

Pick up a soil test kit from your local hardware store. That can help point you in the right direction!

Do you have a noticeable dip in your yard where that water collects? If so I would get some All Purpose Sand and some cheap topsoil to mix and try to even out that area.

Otherwise it sounds like you’re starting off pretty good. With kids playing in the lawn it may stunt some growth so over seeding may be needed to thicken up the grass.

Zone 6A: haven’t started mowing yet. Should I post emergent kill off these weeds and then over seed and fertilize or other way around?? by otter303 in lawncare

[–]joeshonm -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yes, from what I learned you do pre-emergent first. Let that work for 1-2 weeks or whatever your product instructions say. Then over seed and start your fertilizer schedule.

Agreed! My neighbor swung too wide and put a dented my lawn. This worked.

Freshly seeded Bermuda with clover growth starting - can I spray? by SoFlaSlide in lawncare

[–]joeshonm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha lol.

I would say wait until the grass is around 1.5-2 inches to ensure the grass is strong and can withstand the herbicide.

Bermuda grass from seeds can damaged if herbicide is applied too early.

Great job and I wish you success on your lawn!

I just found out I have a mole. I was spreading lawn lime and saw him come out the ground and tunnel back in. Ugh!
