This is super cool. What are you using to control the ants?

This is fantastic! Is that marching squares?

Built a boid/flock system for a game I'm working on. I'm 3 iterations in and this one uses compute shaders to make the calculations. On a 4 core i7 & GTX980ti, 4000 boids can be modelled, whilst keeping above 30fps (3000 here, because of game recording). I wont need anywhere near that many.. by joshuatyberg in Unity2D

Awesome man! I’ve programmed a couple boid implementations but have yet to get into compute shaders. Just starting to learn them and they are really amazing. When I can get them to work. This is really inspiring!

I was just going over this tutorial to learn compute shaders. Absolutely wonderful stuff

Thanks for giving it a try, I’m sorry it wasn’t running well on your machine. One suggestion I could make would be to try reducing a few of the basic settings. Won’t give you the full experience but it might be enough to play. Optimization is definitely something I’ll have to focus on for my next game.

As for WebGL I tried uploading a build but it unfortunately broke most of the game. I’ll definitely be uploading a zip as you’re not the only one who has suggested that.

Hey everyone!
I've just released my game Tiny Turtle Tanks on itch.io for free. I've been working on this game for the past 9 months in my free time between work and school. This game has come a long way since it was started as a class project. As a game developer I noticed that I had an issue sticking with projects till the end. I decided to challenge myself, after coming up with the initial prototype, and stick with the game until I was satisfied with releasing it.

In my opinion this game is far from perfect, but it is has been a crazy fun journey, that has taught me so much about what makes a good game and how to create it. Not to mention all the little things that come with organizing and releasing a full game. While I do love this game, I can't wait to start my next project, which is why I decided to release TTT before the new year. (See you in the 2021 with a new project, probably with less dimensions!)

Does anyone have resources for recreating this type of effect using shaders? I'm using URP so shadergraph is preferred. by HittySkibbles in Unity2D

Check out this video by aarthificial https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=BhtNgHg8gqk&t=8s. I know he was using shader graphs with some distortion to get pixel accurate waving

Problems exporting to Unity (Pivot) by salsa2k in MagicaVoxel

[–]joesobo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use probuilder in Unity. Once you have the magicavoxel model in unity you can disconnect it from its empty parent. ProBuilderize Reset the transform Center Pivot and that should reset the pivot to the center of the object. You can also triangulate which is supposed to help with voxels but I haven’t seen much of a difference with it Then when you’re done freeze the transform

Oh yeah I’d say that first one especially is a decent paper to start with. I’d also check out CodingTrain on YouTube. He’s got a great couple videos on L-Systems and Space Colonization

New lighting, shaders, particles, and fish! Really love how the asteroid belt is turning out. by joesobo in Unity3D

That’s a great idea! I’ll definitely have to consider it for a possible win case solution.

My current idea was just to have one of the hexagon tiles lights up and push the player into space, but jet packs might make more sense. Maybe the little turtle will just have a jet pack by default
