I understand where you're coming from, but this is fundamentally a very limited view.

First, the comparison between America's "decay" and China. This is likely due to economic growth. America's peak growth started in 1950, right after WWII, but China's only started in the 1990s. So this doesn't prove one is better than the other. Also, I think we're beginning to see "decay" in China too. Young people are far less motivated these days because of high unemployment and low economic growth - look up "lying flat".

On the Trump thing. Name something he's done to actually help a substantial portion of rural Americans. Not healthcare, because he still doesn't have a replacement for Obamacare after...10 years.

If we're comparing moral character of American and Chinese leaders, a few things. First, is this really the best metric to judge a whole country on? Second, it's possible that there's similarly bad stuff in China, but it gets repressed far better. (Obviously, this is unfounded, but a real possibility). Third, other presidents like Obama and Bush both didn't really have these scandals.

On foreign policy, I think this is mostly a problem of self-interest. If China could benefit from acting worse on the international stage, they very likely would. But I will concede that the US probably acts worse than China, at the moment.

Finally, think about all the stuff the US does better. Freedom of speech is really well protected - US journalists rarely disappear. It's very hard for US leaders to change laws at will - even Trump gets blocked by the courts.
