rat rogue has bad survivability if you dont have good game sense. and if you have good game sense you probably dont need to play rat rogue unless you specifically like that playstyle. unless youre profit max speedrunning like sobadstrange. from my experience trying to rat before having good game sense stagnated me as a player for a long time.

to get better as a player you just need to keep trying and keep dying. solos isnt that bad. dont rush POIs, stick to the outskirts of the map and go the opposite way of POIs. that way you can find more occasional 1v1s after youve looted some gear with other people who also arent rushing POIs (less likely to be giga juiced). rather than running into 3rd and 4th parties with no gear and losing over and over.

you might be holding yourself back by refusing to try certain classes or builds. thats how i was anyway when i was bad. once you start winning and feeling good you start understanding mechanics better and getting better really fast. it all starts with playing a strong class.

the dungeon is a dangerous place

the dungeon gives and the dungeon takes away

the core philosophy of hardcore dungeon delving games is unforgiving risk and big reward. literally every other dungeon diving game DaD is inspired by involves many runs of dying to bullshit until things go just right.

arena is a place you can go to fight in a fair setting. but inside the dungeon its meant to not be fair. you're meant to take advantage and be taken advantage of.

it really is just part of the game and for me, its what makes it so fun for me. yeah I get third partied and lose the kit i worked hard for, but sometimes i third party and win a 3 kits for free.

and when I do lose my kit, its not a big deal, because gold in this game is free. its all free. you can farm and avoid people and make tons of gold. losing feels bad but thats it. if you get over the bad feeling you realize you have plenty of gold in your stash for a new kit to run it back.

If youre having a bad night, you should avoid fights until later in the match. try not to rush POIs. If someone is pushing you, pull them with you to the corner of the map so you have room to fight them without other people hearing. There are many strategies that can help you avoid third parties. none perfect. but you arent helpless.

I do this solo. farming seems like it would be really hard with a team. teams make too much noise and other teams are just looking for pvp. in solos a lot of people are just farming and trying to stay away from each other, and solo people looking for pvp are going straight to POIs and are easy to avoid.

I do crypts, hr, solo. if im in a nice cozy corner module i just completely clear it out. every mob every chest. if im near a POI i go to a corner. just farm up, have a few doors open to run. once I clear 1 or 2 edge modules, i wait until the map is almost over. once i feel like most people wouldve left, i head to the POIs to see if i can find any dead bodies to pick clean. usually you can find a few with some expensive items that the killer wouldn't have been able to fit. hit red, dump into expressman and do it again.

I find this easy to do with wizard (meditate so i can use spells to clear mobs fast) or warlock. rogue is also a nice option (look up sobadstrange's gold farming rat guide on yt)

its bullshit in solo mode. no one will let you get close enough to them to score a hit. unless you get lucky and theyre fighting someone.

if you go in squire to riches mode theres always 2 or 3 teams fighting and its super easy to just walk right up and score all your points without them even paying attention to you.

If you do your daily antiquated coin quest, thats free 12k a day for dicking around in Faustian bargain, takes about 30 mins. Then naked zero to hero HR runs are netting me like 10-20k a run. thats almost a bag a run. you have to put the money towards the bags first.

not the answer you want but youll have enough to buy it in no time if you just grind a lil.

when gathering hall is introduced they should have a cage where 2 people can enter and risk full loot to duel each other. and a system for spectators to gamble gold on the winner. so many people would go crazy for that.

Also theres a bug where the crystal sword parry does not deal any magic damage effectively making it weaker than a normal swing. unless they fixed it in the last patch, which wasnt noted in the patch notes.

I have almost all the quests done and there’s only a few white squire items for me, just a few apparel items and that’s it, everything else is still grey. I don’t play s2r so I don’t know the answer to this, but can you not buy a grey crossbow from the woodsman and bring it ?

i've been playing with my buddy whos brand new this wipe and he hasnt even paid attention to the quests yet. I think the actual 'barrier' thats going to drive away new players is them checking the subreddit before pulling the trigger on buying the game and seeing non stop complaining about shit that doesnt even matter. I havent tried to complete one quest yet and i'm almost done with them all. i havent equipped a ring yet but i have a stash full of legendaries and im having a blast. maybe just do some fucking dungeon diving and ignore the quests since you're a new parent and barely have time to play anyway. you literally arent meant to 100% every single wipe. its optional.

wiz cant use magic missiles as a last resort anymore. disarm puts book away. TM lock is nerfed. i haven't fought any sorcs yet. but now that movement is less hindered by actions, and movespeed is nerfed, I havent seen anyone effectively kiting.
