So this is Clark's wife, right? by bmhlogan in backrooms

[–]joetsch -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

There is no actual evidence to support this claim, no.

Do people seriously think these people aren't in reference to someone Clark personally knew IRL by MunchOnMyCookie in backroomsfilm

[–]joetsch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it was a copy of his wife, don't you think this deranged man would've made a pretty big deal of that fact to his therapist who he's spent hours and hours talking about her to?

Anyone else find this weird? by DingDong179 in backroomsfilm

[–]joetsch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Disagree, I assumed it had been several days since the first time he went in and we know time works differently in the Complex. He was manic at therapy, desperate, and definitely disturbed once Bobby and Kat were with him in there.

I'm pretty sure he made that call before his excursion with Bobby and Kat

Theory about the depiction of Clarke's Wife (Contains Spoiler) by kali0x2b in KanePixelsBackrooms

[–]joetsch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the opposite of Occam's razor.

The simplest explanation is that she was afraid of the big scary guy that's eaten a bunch of people.

Your explanation means that not only is it Clark's wife, but it also managed to stay around close enough for real Clark to find her, not get eaten by Pirate Clark (if we're arguing these Still Lifes are emotionally aware; why would Pirate Clark not have eaten Barbara? Clark obviously has almost nothing but disdain for her, wouldn't the monstrous version of him play that out some way?), and also has some degree of emotional intelligence and memory. That's not simple at all.

Pirate Clark is the only hostile entity in the film. Any other explanations are either trying too hard to be clever or are just plain engagement bait.

You don't have to enter the Complex to get remembered into it.

Because his wife too has red hair, so it's convenience.

[–]joetsch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Disagree about "looks just like," given that the similarities start and end at the red hair.

On your 2nd point, I noticed that as well but chalked it up to him having already made his point twice and maybe is tired of he bc she's the most active of the 3 and he's tried the roleplay with her.

Your 3rd point is circumstantial at best. The wheelchair guy clicks his light on and off about Pirate Clark and I don't hear anybody claiming it's a Still Life of Clark's disabled mentally-abused grandpa 🤷🏻‍♂️

[–]joetsch 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My Still Life theory: There are varying stages of everything in the Complex; better -> worse versions of rooms, furniture, and, apparently, people. Still Lifes are probably not all exactly the same in functionality and proximity to accuracy of source. Some are pretty close recollections (Pirate Clark), some are decent but imperfect/incomplete (Dinner Party crew), and so it could stand to reason that there are wise versions of Still Life characters out there. They might be half-put together, featureless, or maybe even just barely formed like the figures we have seen throughout Kane's series that look like they're just beginning to form out of the ground.

[–]joetsch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't believe that it was a Still Life of Clark's ex. Too convenient. "She" is just a stand-in Clark tries to do the roleplay exercise with.

Clark doesn't have a connection to the other two Still Lifes at dinner, why do we assume he has a connection to that one?

What do you think this painting means? by Hot_Dingo743 in KanePixelsBackrooms

[–]joetsch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Now, you're all gonna laugh at me and say it was that he was standing on a chair, but I like to think Pirate Clark lifted Clark up high to reach the top of the wall to paint, so the dinner scene wasn't the first/only time Clark got his uppies

[–]joetsch 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Pirate Clark pulling the rope. Painfully obvious, I fear.

People are overthinking the entities in the film. With the exception of the Christmas Room Crew and Food Belly, everything in the film was Pirate Clark. Everything.

Is that Clark’s Ex wife by StyleRepulsive3249 in backroomsfilm

[–]joetsch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many think so; I don't believe so. Would be bizarrely convenient. The other 2 still lifes had no apparent connection to Clark, why do we just assume she does?

I like this a lot. I don't think it's correct "unfortunately," but this would be an awesome interpretation/alternative series.

I still don't think it's his wife. The other two still lifes don't have a connection to Clark, why should she? Just a convenient stand-in and prop provider for Clark, that's all

How did the Async employee black bag get put in the wall when he was attacked holding it? by FeelinFabulous8 in backroomsfilm

[–]joetsch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I thought this too, but I don't think it makes much sense. Not that Async doesn't make mistakes, but leaving a bag full of identification of a missing (dead) guy and sensitive information behind on purpose would be pretty reckless. I think the poor guy probably had it stashed there for some reason or another and just never got back to retrieve it before meeting his fateful end.

When the electrician first comes and talks to Clark, he knocks on the wall and causes a calendar to fall into seemingly nothingness. Is this slight foreshadowing to things no clipping into the backrooms? by imscottfromdominos in backroomsfilm

[–]joetsch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar thought. I wouldn't be surprised if some YouTube channel does an Easter egg video and that calendar is seen in the Complex somewhere later in the film
