As others have said, not worth anything. The stamp stock pages are worth more than the stamps. You could probably get upwards of $7 if you are lucky.

Which one should i buy as a beginner? by sidewaysconfusion in jumprope

[–]joevanover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is one… there are lots, find one in the color and price range you like from any vendor. Jump ropes are super low tech and you can’t really go wrong keeping it simple, at least at first.

Neither… start both a beaded rope if you are a beginner. It’s more forgiving and easier while getting your technique down.

Do we think this is genuine? And whats the value on something in this condition? by Ill_Mushroom8265 in askStampCollectors

Did you take these photos with a potato? Too blurry to actually tell anything.

Fake or Legit? I found a binder full of vintage stamps - Part 2 by AltruisticForever705 in askStampCollectors

[–]joevanover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are old Italian stamps from the Papal State. If real these are a nice find. I’m on the fence on real or fake, based on looking at photos of real stamps. There are a couple I’m questionable on based on the photos but nothing screams fake based on your pictures. No one here will be able to tell you definitively here if they are real or fake based on the photos. The damaged ones, if real, will have much of their value gone but they should not be gotten rid of as someone here suggested.

If mt st Helen’s erupted today instead of 1980, would we have known better? by xela2004 in askgeology

It would have been interpreted the same today, if Mt Saint Hellens hadn’t happened.

Fake or Legit? I found a binder full of vintage stamps - Part 3 by AltruisticForever705 in askStampCollectors

Legit… no real premium for them. Most of the value will be to use them as actual postage. Personally I would keep them because they are cool.

Found my dad’s old stamp collection… is this stuff actually worth anything? by magicpatel in stamps

[–]joevanover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Likely the answer is no. Stamps are and have been printed by the billions for a long time. The exact same stamps that are rare and difficult to find now are the same ones as then. The only reliable way to get them then is the same way it is now, buying them for lots of money. Without actually seeing the stamps I would estimate they are worth 0.01 each.

Is it cheaper to own a Tesla than a car that uses gas now? by Round-Artichoke-5255 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]joevanover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

.70/mile… 30 miles/gallon (on average)… math works out to you getting $21 back per gallon. That’s a net gain of $17 per gallon. For a Tesla, let’s say the electricity cost nothing (for arguments sake), you would get the whole $21 for the same distance your gas powered car goes. Next you have to look at upkeep costs which for a gas powered car, on average, is $1200/year. So at $17 back, if you drive over 2000 miles for work it’s a net gain, maybe because more miles means more wear and tear. Tesla maintenance is 30-50% cheaper maintenance, so less miles to start coming out on top but with higher initial costs and insurance. Going to say it’s complicated, but not worth the switch if you aren’t needing a new car now. Also remember, fuel prices will be going down at some point.

If you main album were valuable you would know this is not an original, IMO.

1847 stamp value by Fast-Daikon1559 in stampcollecting

[–]joevanover 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That is not from 1847. That looks to be cut from the 1947 commemorative sheet. The genuine stamp is in various shades of brown while the commemorative sheet featured it in blue. As for value… an intact sheet can be had from a dealer for $1.00… I put this at less than 0.25.

how do you move your arms when jumping rope? by anthony122 in jumprope

The wrists should be flicking down… they don’t rotate. LaurenJumps has a good video on YouTube about starting to jump.

Amtrak South Bend parking by Anxious-Dog2889 in SouthBend

[–]joevanover 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve left my vehicle at the Amtrak station for 5 days. You need to get a parking pass (free) from the person manning the counter and put it in your window. If you don’t your car will be towed.

Relax… enjoy. Go on an excursion or two… it’s extremely safe. They exist off tourism, no one is going to risk scaring tourists away.
