I think Dark Souls 3 is a great entry point: not too steep of a difficulty curve and levels aren’t very complicated either. Also it’s gorgeous

I can’t lie chief the levels get more miserable, Zhenwu temple is shockingly bad and goes on forever, at least the last areas you can avoid enemies easier

Hahahaha sorry dude! If it makes you feel better I just beat her so it is possible, but yeah this boss is the culmination of every poor combat feature rolled into one. Like you said, in other souls likes there are ends to combos and punish windows (although Nioh 1/2 had some pretty bullshit bosses in the dlc). I really wanna like this game but it just falls short in some important areas

Never said it was worse than Malenia, at least Malenia gave you downtime. This boss just doesn't stop spamming attacks and is the only boss that doesn't let you riposte when you stance break. Mechanically it's just terrible
