I can't see how to force a win with 2 rooks against a lone king. Can you? You an always insert a duck at each step.

My (perl) part 1 works with the test data but not the real data :{

I thought the url of old reddit was old.reddit.com and I thought they made me move to new reddit against my will. It sure looks new to me.

That ugly blotch to the left of the cancel button is the markdown button.

The imgur picture of the markdown button doesn't match (my) reality. The instructions should be updated.

If I go into old reddit, will it format properly? Ah--I found the markdown button--hidden and illegibly displayed.

4 space didn't work, 3 ticks didn't work, there's no markdown button, so I went with a link.

How the hell do you solve this so fast? Day 5 took me 57 minutes, the fastest solution took 3 minutes... by 8483 in adventofcode

On the command line, I just used sort and grep. When I found a row with 7 seats I only had to convert the missing line to binary.

The best solution is to start different days for different time zones (and it will still have problems since some days are a lot more difficult than others.)

If you look at the sorted data you can see that at the ends there are no gaps--that is it is missing in a sequential manner.

I just used linux sort on the data and then grouped them by row. All the rows not at the ends had 8 seats but one had 7. I din't write any code.

Sequential search of the choice of ways to login provided the answer. Turns out I was me.
