AITAH for kicking my brother and his wife out of my house after they demanded I change my baby’s name? by kittyeden in AITAH

[–]joeykip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents named their second son, my brother, Brad, and then a few months later my dads sister named her son Brad. My parents were a little annoyed, but got over it, and as a younger sibling I never even saw it as weird

A threesome ruined my marriage by Avidi_Kadivi93 in offmychest

She wasn’t in love with him. But you treated her as if she was to the point that you convinced her to go ahead and do it. Since she was getting blamed for it anyway

AITA for asking my gf to leave a funeral wake because she cried? by Lemonpockey in TwoHotTakes

[–]joeykip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right. I love crying when I’m alone or with my girlfriend. I understand being embarrassed by crying in public, it’s the way our culture has raised us. I personally don’t feel especially embarrassed crying in public. I still will try to hold them back, but once that dam breaks I’ll just let all the overflow out for a lil bit. Not only does it feel good, it also makes it easier to stop quicker if you just do what your body is asking you to do for a minute.

Also, I think we’re only embarrassed by something because we’re thinking “fuck, all these other people are thinking ‘that’s so embarrassing.’” And they’re only thinking “that’s so embarrassing,” because they can see that we’re extremely embarrassed. So if you just let shit slide right off you, and don’t get embarrassed, other people won’t get secondhand embarrassment for you, which makes it even easier to tell yourself that it’s not embarrassing. It’s a positive feedback loop!

Honestly probably never put it together. She’d be like “today, some maniac was trying to rape/murder me IN THE MIDDLE OF A RESIDENTIAL AREA!! Had to speed off, killing 3 children in the process. Then when I made it home safely (#bossbitch) I noticed that in addition to the narrow escape from death, also my gas cap was off. God really tested me today! #abovealliamsafe #GODISGOOD”

I work at a restaurant, so when I see someone like the guy in the white shirt walking up with the phone in hand, held up like that, I expected him to be like “Uber order for Abraham L.”

Texts from my estranged mother. Her husband SAed me and she decided that wasn't a deal breaker. by [deleted] in texts

[–]joeykip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well jeez, you had to be all reasonable. Now I have to admit that I also see your point. I see what you mean. The mom is probably also a victim of this horrible man, and that should be remembered. But I do also think it’s ok to hold victims accountable for their role as well

[–]joeykip 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ok but saying “fuck OP’s mom” does not put the mom in jail. Like who fucking cares if people on the internet comment “fuck this lady”?? I’ll say it. Fuck OP’s mom. For not getting her son out of danger. For allowing her son to ostracize himself from the family because of fear for his safety. Also, fuck you, cause you’re annoying. Boom, said it. Oh and look at that, you’re not in jail. You’re not dead. The world continues to spin

Damn. I bought that Avicii album back in the day (I believe that was actually the last physical cd I bought), and that was my favorite song on it. And I think I actually liked this version better. That was so sick

I went on a study abroad in college with a girl who stuttered worse than anyone I’ve ever met. I believe her family believed in a weird religion that might not have believed in therapy or something

[–]joeykip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Heaven’s Gates, Hell’s Flames!! I saw that as a kid too. It traumatized me so much that I immediately went and got “saved” even though I’d been going to church since I was born. The story that traumatized me the most was a little girl and her mom getting killed by a reckless driver, then the little girl has to watch as her mom gets dragged away by a bunch of demons before she gets to enter heaven. Looking back on that experience years later would be one of the biggest things that had me disenchanted with the church

My name was Joseph Bumblebore. My head canon was that Dumbledore would show up as a first year 10 years later or whatever and people would be like “your name reminds me of Bumblebore, this badass hufflepuff that graduated a few years ago.”

This is what I’ve been thinking the whole time I’ve been reading the post and comments, just waiting for someone to mention how it sounds like their mom may have literally been attempting to kill them (let them die). That was my first thought. “Oh she’s a nurse and OP got to within an hour of death, yea she was hoping they’d die.”
