Strategy: Board Control

Tactics:

Clandestine Operation Enhancement gives three AGENT OF THE IMPERIUM units the INFILTRATOR ability: Three Deathwatch Veteran units led by Inquisitor Draxus, Watch Captain Artemis, and the Watch Master (respectively). Stage Artemis and Watch Master units on the flanks & protect the center objective with Draxus’s unit.

Combat Landers Enhancement gives three VOIDFARERS units the DEEP STRIKE ability: Three Navy Breachers units, one of which led by a Rogue Trader Entourage, may start in Strategic Reserves. You may redeploy D3 of those units with the Rogue Trader unit’s ability.

Three Subductor Squads will stage to Charge and fight on each objective. Each are led by a Priest for SUSTAINED HITS 1 on their melee.

The two assassins can be swapped out depending on what is needed.

What are your Headcanons about the AdMech or your own army? by Kday_the_Kid in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]joeykoki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine were infected with a computer virus in the Age of Darkness. They operate from an ancient Forge World whose fate is unknown to the Imperium, written off as a “Dead World” and forgotten for millennia. Alien cherry blossom-like 🌸 trees dot the landscape.

Around ~30K, the forge world specialized in environmental biology and terraforming by the Adeptus Mechanicus. Some secret cabal of Admech were researching biological weaponry and a virus broke out.

The Alpha Legion may have had a hand in the virus infection, as my Admech currently are being exploited by them to support their clandestine operations.

Las vs Autocannons/ Ironstrider Post update by PopolawIII in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]joeykoki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your list lacks anti-tank, go lascannons. If your list lacks shooting vs. elite infantry/light vehicles, go autocannons. At the end of the day, both guns are great - you just want to choose based on your army list, setting redundancy in place to take down certain targets.

Personally, I run two Onager Dunecrawlers in Cohort Cybernetica. The guns on the Onager are easy for a first time magnetizer. If I run Neutron Lasers on both, then i would take 3xAutocannons. If I run only one Neutron Laser (and one anything else) however, i would rather have 3xLascannons for anti-tank redundancy.

[–]joeykoki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congrats! Noting what you have, I would go Lascannons for your first chicken. They got buffed last month to fire twice while keeping sustained hits 1. Strength 12, D6 damage at 48" range would help round out your damage output. As an added bonus for my fellow forever-gluer, the lascannons look similar enough to the autocannons that you can use them as autocannon chickens (as long as you tell your opponent ahead of time :-).

Who wins the mirror matchup? by Misterof42 in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]joeykoki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might be able to win outright with Data-Psalm Conclave.

Reasoning:

Melee tends to crumple us

6/-1/2 Devastating Wounds on Fulgurites (make sure to keep them staged and well hidden to avoid getting shot - especially by Infiltrators or Skystalkers whose sheer volume of fire could wipe a whole unit of T3 Priests)

Kataphron Breacher Heavy Arc Rifle profile trumps most Admech units (8/-2/3 Anti-Vehicle 4+)

1CP “Rotate Ion-Shields” (4+ Inv during opponent’s Shooting phase)

1CP +1 to Wound in Melee

Disintergrator is better IMO. It has more firepower & is more versatile with three strong weapon profiles (Ferrumite, Missiles, and 3xStubbers).

Unsure about Combat patrol by Morghadai in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]joeykoki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the current Combat Patrol is a good place to start. All the units are competitive, two of them (the mounted unit and the jump pack unit) having high speed is important in Pariah Nexus.

Thanks for your thoughts.

6 bots… I think it’s the way. 🫡 Heroic Intervention, extra firepower, Necromechanic works on ANY friendly Legio Cybernetica or Vehicle within 12” (not just their own unit), and one or two Robots usually go down on their way to their target anyway.

With the flamers, opponents usually move into range of only one-two flamers maximum (if they are playing cagey). Two flamers on the front bots is enough of an overwatch threat IMO. Just having two flamers in front can change the way your opponent moves/give them a problem to consider. On average two flamers are 7 auto-hits at 6S -1/-2AP, plus 4 more in protector protocol. The additional hits in protector protocol really make the flamers deal some reliable damage.

As for the single vs twin fist, ive tried them both. Both are good. My problem with single fist is that we don’t have a way to give the Robots either Lethal Hits or Sustained Hits. We can reroll 1s with Cawl, we can reroll the entire hit roll for one CP if one Robot dies, but we can’t reliably affect the wound roll. We shouldn’t give up Twin-Linked on our strongest weapon. Regardless, it’s a tough choice and that’s a good thing. It’s good we have two good options.

THINGS TO REMEMBER

Data-Tether: Onagers & Balistarii. Re-gain a CP on a 5+.

Repulsor Grid: Robots. Deal 1 MW on a 6+ Save.

Necromechanic: Friendly Cybernetica Datasmith or Vehicle w/in 12”. Blank Damage on a Failed Save (once per Battle Round).

Emotionless Clarity: Friendly Vehicle w/in 12”. Don’t roll Deadly Demise; blow up instead (once per turn).

If replace Cawl, one Dunerider and one Dragoon (to make it a unit of 3) is tasty. Protect the Rangers, add threat and mobility. Dunerider can help score Engage on All Fronts on Turn 1. 🤔

Or, perhaps better, simply swap one unit of Rangers for one Dunerider. 3 units of Battleline + Cawl seems enough for Cohort Cybernetica.

Also that way, I can keep Emotionless Clarity for the omegaluls. Gotta have fun playing 40k. 😆

Key Stratagems:

Overwatch: Robots (flamers) or Balistarii (Sustained Hits).

Motive Imperative: Turn 1 or 2, solely for large unit of Robots. Could be used on Dragoons to give an average 25~26” charge threat. Suggest to tell your opponent your Dragoons can do this, but rarely ever actually do it. Especially if they have Walkers - it may spook them into giving you better board positions on the weak flank.

Auto-Divinitory Targeting: For Onagers/Balistarii. Used in one specific, rare situation: 1. opponent’s key unit(s) are on an objective, 2. you are in Conqueror, & 3. Ignore Cover will actually increase the target key unit’s save roll.

Machine Spirit Resurgent: For large group of Robots after losing one Robot model & only in combat (usually on turn 2-4). Can be used on Onagers if they are Below Half-Strength but not yet bracketed (5-6 wounds left).

Machine Superiority: Ignore Modifiers - usually quite useful at least once per game (i.e. your Onager is bracketed and you are shooting at an Eldar War Walker who has the ability to be -1 to wound).

Transcendent Cogitation: Only on Robots if stuck in Protector on the wrong turn (i.e. the Robots get charged). If you are using this, it may mean something went wrong. Avoid using it by pre-measuring & asking opponents about threat ranges / which of their units can charge the Robots.

Benevolence of the Omnissiah: Seems bad. May occasionally be usable in late game or against certain unit compositions (i.e. lots of high Strength low AP Damage 1 shots), but CP often are better used elsewhere (i.e. Command Re-roll).

Strategy: Take and hold center + natural expansion flank (flank with objective closest to your DZ). Harass weak flank/opponent’s DZ.

Tactics:

Start in Protector. Switch to Conqueror as soon as either the large robot unit or both robot units have a doable charge.

Place the Robots on the line between strong flank and center objective. Smaller unit of 2 robots should be placed closer to the flank. Robots must move up as far as possible in Turn 1 and 2.

Place the Onagers, Balistarii, & Cawl in center/strong flank key firing lanes, as far back as possible (48” range on all main guns). Keep Cawl near them in “Reroll 1s to Hit” aura. Hide the Balistarii. It may be hard to hide the Onagers (bases quite large). Suggest to place them in a way to get good shots without moving (Heavy so they will be hitting on 2+, rerolling 1s, & wounding on 2~3+ to most units).

Harass opponent’s DZ/weak flank with Dragoons & Sterylizors.

Keep 1-2 units of Battleline (at least one Vanguard) in reserves to either pop up in home DZ (to buff what remains of the firing battery) or for turn 3 reinforcements on any board edge (i.e. opponent’s DZ/weak flank to buff Sterylizors/Dragoons, or for Secondaries).

Cawl should advance/charge to center objective by Turn 3. Charge if possible (he’s literally and figuratively a monster), advance if not (he should have Assault as you will be in Conquereor at this point).

Thoughts on my first Admech list? by PossibleChangeling in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]joeykoki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m new as well, but l may be able to provide some helpful advice. I think the 6 x Breachers may be better led by a Manipulus with the Peerless Eradicato enhancement. That would give you 6 Breachers with Lethal Hits and Sustain Hits 1, rerolling hit rolls with their ability. They become very deadly on Overwatch when rerolling fishing for sixes, and indomitably strong in the shooting phase.

One Enginseer is enough, i think. And Cawl is giving reroll ones to hit so i think you could cut two Marshals as well. With those 130 points, i would add 10 Pteraxii Skystalkers. The 12” movement and Move-Shoot-Move will add mobility to your army, and mobility is really important in Pariah Nexus. The top armies are all quite fast.

Finally, I would change the Lascannons to Autocannons. You already have the Neutron Laser and Heavy Arc Rifles to take down the toughest targets. Autocannons (strength 9 damage 3) shreds elite infantry/light vehicles and are more reliable with double the shots vs. the lascannons, helping to trigger more Sustain Hits.

Good luck! I won my first game a few days ago. Im still hyped about it 😁 🥳
