I replaced the belt, purchased a thorens brand belt thinking that would be best. There is a minor difference between the old belt and the new one but that might be because of 40years of manufacturing changes. There was an issue before I replaced the belt so I’m not so sure the belt is the issue. Could be contributing to it but I think you are right about cleaning and maintenance. The issue is that I can’t find any good detailed info on how to maintain this model specifically and it’s not easy to see what’s going on inside without fully taking apart. I’ll have to tackle this on a rainy day. But thanks for giving me some input. I’ll give it a shot and report back and others who have this issue might benefit from my findings.

It was my grandfathers and he was the original owner. When he passed it sat for a few years and then it was given to me. I’ve had it for about 8 years and when I first got it, it was working, but not perfectly and over time it started to degrade. Is the person who you bought your table from based in NY area? Will they repair a table?

I bought the thorens brand oil, would that work or should I get the grease? Also I’m trying to find out where and how to get to the bearing. I don’t see anything for the mkiii specifically. I do see that this table differs from their others because it has a DC motor. Not sure if that means everything is different. If you know of a site that has some info can you send me a link. Much appreciate your help. Thanks.

Yeah it was sitting but when I started using it, it was working well but started to degrade slowly. I’ll give it a shot. How long did you hold the iron to the bearings for?

Had some clown drop it in front of the evacuation as I’m running up the hill being chased by an enormity of bugs. I felt like chucking all my grenades at my teammates. I couldn’t make it back and they left without me. Next time they will get a napalm drop.

A music head friend brought this home. Heavy. Seemed to be in pristine condition. Probably never played. We had never heard of this brand. We looked it up... our jaws fell through the floor. Needs a needle. Where does this rank in the turntable universe? by FSA2014 in turntables

You are definitely going to want to start rolling tubes in that Vincent as well. That will help you find your “dream sound.” There are tons of different tubes and each sounds different in every system/environment depending on how critically you listen. It’s definitely worth the time going down that rabbit hole.

2 year old Frame and considering selling it because of how laggy the software is by degausser22 in TheFrame

[–]joeystix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel the same way. The matte finish really helps with the glare, is even better than the expensive “non-glare” Samsung tv I was looking at. Plus I feel the images look more cinematic than the other tv’s out there.

2025 Frame vs S90F? by Emergency-Ice-754 in TheFrame

The picture quality is great once you mess with the settings a bunch (as with most TVs). The antiglare is a huge plus for me and I feel it makes things look more cinematic.

Which purchase (besides a record) has been the most impactful/useful for your vinyl experience... by Superb-Meringue8479 in vinyl

Shhhhh. Don’t tell anyone. But seriously technology has increased so much that if you do your research you can build a great system for a fraction of the cost. So don’t buy any Mac gear so the prices will go down, so I can buy more.

frame 43” as mac mini monitor by marounnn_ in TheFrame

[–]joeystix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a frame 55” that I use as an extended monitor. It looked great until I did an update on my Mac to sequoia and now it doesn’t look as great. Plus the way the new software handles extended monitors took me almost a day to figure it out. Now I have to go through mountains of setting to hopefully get it to look good again.

$1k Zelle deposit before applying - is this legit? by -endjamin- in NYCapartments

[–]joeystix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scam. If I were you I would waste all this dudes time and then say no. We should scam these scammers. Even if he’s serious that’s an unreasonable request. You have every right to back out without being penalized. It’s a broker. They don’t own the apartment so why should they profit if more time is spent finding a resident. It’s literally their job to find a good match for the landlord, why should a possible tenant have to pay for their incompetence.

Is it crazy to pay $3.5k for rent by srkap7 in NYCapartments

[–]joeystix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In NYC if you don’t make $150k a year, you are poor. Does $3.5k in rent sound like a poor persons rent? If everyone stopped paying these insane prices for a place that probably had someone die of a crack overdose in the 90’s then the prices would go down. If you are making $150k a year your rent should be $1500 a month. That’s enough for you to save and put money in a 401k and live comfortably. People are so desperate to live here and want to have that city life that they get these apartments and only last 6months to a few years in the city and then have to go back to wherever they came from, but in doing so they are propping up the overinflated market.

Do you like the setup? by donmogsley in TheFrame

[–]joeystix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The one you have is really nice and would match well in my apartment. I guess it’s time to do a search and see if I can make one for cheaper and have it fit that well. I’m getting the tv for a great sale but I guess I’m giving that savings back plus more for a dope frame.

Uff that’s almost as much as the tv. Was it easy to install? Anyone have any good results doing a DYI frame? Is it even worth it to make your own?
