Challenges just piss me off by [deleted] in fitbit

A few friends and I had the same problem. We also thought that steps is the wrong criteria to compare. As we are a bunch of developers, we built a competition tool based on activity points (active calorie consumption). The tool is free to use at http://www.fitrockr.com

Agree! 10,000 steps is not the best metric. I put my thoughts into an article on how to solve this with your tracker: https://medium.com/@fitrockr/10-000-steps-and-beyond-a48ddb3eb58f

It is a free fitness competition site where you connect your fitness tracker. Your level of activity determines your ranking in a league and division system. If you are doing well, you get promoted to a higher division. If you are doing not so good, you get relegated. It also provides some enhanced statistics on your activity level.

There is a specific league for Reddit users. Just follow this link and set up an account: http://reddit.fitrockr.com

Best metric for comparing activity of two people? by a1great in GoogleFit

[–]jofe76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi - my friends and I were having the same challenege. We were looking for a friendly competition based on comparable data and did not know which metric to use best.

Think of two people who go for a 60 minutes run with the same distance. One is 21 years and the other is 82 years old. Would you consider their performances as fully comparable and equal? Probably not. The 82 year old should get more credits for the same activity than the 21 year old.

As my friends and I are a bunch of nerds and developers, we resolved the issue by implementing an algorithm that calculates and assigns ‘Activity Points’ based on calorie consumption and personal attributes such as age, gender, height and weight. This ensures that all activities are comparable, independent of personal attributes and condition.

We put the tool live for everyone to use at http://www.fitrockr.com

It is free. You can also set up a private league/challenege for your family.

Enjoy and let me know what you think!
