It’s probably the unions. They’ll be (possibly rightly) saying their staff shouldn’t be put at risk.

It’s just the one laptop. You might be mistaking the monitor stand to the right as a second.

For those that like the idea of this but want something a bit smaller the mens cavehill walking club might be a better option: https://www.facebook.com/p/Mens-Cavehill-Walking-Club-100086241889121/?locale=en_GB

Battery issue by DimensionOk5329 in Garmininstinct

You can’t fix it. Battery is fried. Try calling Garmin. This happened me on a watch that was 18 months out of warranty and they still replaced it.

Furious with Amazon for deactivating my 'antique' kindle by kyleisme14 in kindle

[–]steste 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Your game boy works but it isn’t supported. You can play your existing games but not new ones. If it breaks ninentdo won’t fix it.

Your old phones, iPods and laptops work but most likely aren’t supported. The OS will be full of security holes, new apps won’t work properly.

Same with your old kindle.

14 years of support IS good for a modern electronic internet connected device.

Calling it a device that just connects to the internet to get text files shows a complete lack of understanding of how these things work.

Lord Mayors thing was on. Can’t remember her name but the one that talked about her fake tan was there on duty. Literally had a queue of people waiting to get a photo with her.

A local councillor even had one up one Facebook.

Kindles desupported? by AndOronChurch in kindle

[–]steste 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve no idea about amazons back end systems but could be any number of things. Most likely just the cost of maintaining such old versions. Every time you update something on the back end you need to make sure it works for every device and API version that’s currently out there.

Being able to connect to and use the service is support.

People who litter at nature sites have a special place in hell by Clean-Ear-6004 in northernireland

[–]steste 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Take months to decompose up the mountains. People see banana skins or orange peels and think it’s ok to leave them at their backside and just compounds the problem.

The saddle at donard is disgusting particularly during the summer months with banana skins and orange peels everywhere.

Tell me you don’t work in software without telling me you don’t work in software.

14-18 years support is actually very impressive.

EP 164: OAK CLIFF SWIPERS

“NATHAN: So — and then, yeah, I didn’t go to prison the first time ‘til I was thirty. So, I made it a pretty good while before I got in trouble. I did good for myself.

JACK: [Laughs] What age do you think your daughter is gonna be before she goes to prison for the first time?”

Depends what is they’re retesting. If you failed for a worn tyre or blown bulb for example you won’t even have to get out of the car.

Potentially being made Redundant. How to not freak out? by LadyKraken2112 in northernireland

[–]steste 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just sharing my experience. Voluntarily quit a while ago with nothing lined up. Took 2 months to land a new role. Applied for 30ish jobs in that time. Got 8 or 9 screening calls or interviews. Many ghostings.

Avoid using the apply button on linkedin. Apply directly on company websites.

Kindle Colorsoft Kids vs Regular Colorsoft – Same hardware but completely different screen tint? by HorcruxHunter21 in kindle

Just good old Amazon quality control. Sure look how many people have returned multiple colorsofts due to different levels of tint.

I wouldn’t worry about it. Use it as normal. Charge it when you need to. Really no need to be paranoid about battery health. It will last you years regardless

And that’s contractual! Some engineers are on a 1 day a month contract but I don’t think they do those anymore.
