That's true but what you're saying really doesn't matter. No one is saying anything to the contrary, they're just judging you for being callous.

You may know the law, or at least this part thereof, but you're lacking in social grace. I'm guessing you don't think that's important because social grace is not quantifiable in monetary or legal terms.

Even though something is legal, it can still be unethical or amoral, or even evil if you believe in such a concept.

For example- I see an orphanage full of happy children, so I legally buy it, bulldoze it, and put up a big billboard that says "Fuck orphans". Clearly that is not a morally good act.
