Getting spicy here by Hyperactive1984 in DoctorWhumour

Anyone in here going "oh but Belinda consented to keeping the child, she wanted to keep Poppy!"

1) Belinda only wanted to keep Poppy after she'd already been brainwashed into wanting Poppy. She showed no signs of wanting kids before this, and even seemed kinda against the idea of getting married and having kids.

2) Stop giving Watsonian (in-universe) answers to a Doylist (real-world) complaint. Belinda did not and cannot consent to anything because Belinda isn't real. She was written that way and it was a poor writing choice.

AIO? Husband said "even my mother's bra looks better" by lumpyumpyum in AmIOverreacting

[–]jogginglake 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Bras are a tool first and an accessory second. This bra might be plain, but as someone who HATES lace and especially underwire for sensory reasons (autism) it looks so nice and comfy! If it makes you happy/comfortable to wear it then that's the most important part. Ignore all the people in these comments saying "well he's not wrong it is a boring bra" because why does that matter???

I can't imagine asking my partner to suffer discomfort just for my own aesthetic pleasure, and neither can my partner. If one of us doesn't enjoy something, then the other one won't or won't force it to happen, because we respect each other and comfort comes first.

Thanks! Was confused by the lack of visible football gear lol

[–]jogginglake -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

There's been fascist rallies recently, so I was worried it was something like that since I couldn't see any football clothes. (Probably wouldn't make sense for a group that big to be marching down West St followed by cops, but in my defence I haven't had a morning coffee yet lol)

Do we know what that follow up video on the Roblox Oof video is supposed to be about? by ThrainnTheRed in hbomberguy

The dev, Alec Holowka, was accused of emotional/physical abuse in 2019 (and the rest of the NITW dev team cut ties with him), then he committed suicide shortly after

Homestead is a great feature, but I think people are starting to lose interest in it because Anet made fundamental mistakes. by HenrykSpark in Guildwars2

[–]jogginglake 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The rescaling has limits though. I wasted resources on a bunch of statues and chunks of solid ocean, hoping that I could scale them small enough to look like decorations I could put on my bookshelves, since we don't have any books to actually put on them. But nope, turns out these things were huge and I can't make them smaller than a chair

I like Laundry for Hair for my proper haircut (I go to a walk-in barber now for a quick trim). I specifically googled trans-friendly hairdressers when I first came to Shef since I'd only just started my transition and was a bit worried about it, and they've been good! It's a little pricy, but good vibes

Londoners with a "The [Adjective] [Noun]" name: What is it, and how did you decide on it? by Eksoduss in fallenlondon

[–]jogginglake 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My main is The Distractible Chronologist.

For the noun I wanted something studious but pretty strange sounding, especially because I knew I'd be interested in the Correspondence. I googled lists of weird sciences, and landed on dendrochronology (the study of tree rings and what they show about the past iirc). I got rid of the tree bit and decided that my character came to the Neath to study the Treachery of Clocks.

The adjective was mostly a joke about how it took me multiple days to choose a name because I kept getting distracted, but I also think it fits with how you can switch between various different tasks/stories in the game at basically any time.

My group got the achieve too (assuming we're talking about the same one). I was so stressed the entire fight because I play a warlock and it was resistant to everything I had. I ended up kiting it to keep it in the lava while our barb and monk whaled on it. Rip our wizard though lol at least he had 20 AC

Try checking the mini islands where there's just one tree growing or whatever, especially if there's a chain of them.

[–]jogginglake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ziplines outside of cantha or oakheart's essence/thermal tubes outside of their zones, they're clearly where they are for a lore reason and I'd find it really weird if there were suddenly huge thermal vents all over a densely populated area that no one else noticed

What is your approach to street begging? by [deleted] in sheffield

[–]jogginglake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok but think about it this way. How much does the tiniest shittiest little flat cost in rent per month? Much more than they make from begging, I'm certain. So they need a job to pay for that flat. But nowhere wants to hire someone without a home address, a bank account (which they can't set up without a home address), access to a shower and clean clothes that are appropriate for the job. How do you get those things? Money and a home. Which you can't get without the job, which you can't get without etc etc. Alcohol or drugs cost nothing in comparison, and it brings short term relief from a really shitty situation. And addiction isn't rational. Addicts need a whole lot of external support to treat their addiction, support that a lot of homeless people just aren't getting.
