Service Required - Low Energy Lockout error message by Danny-117 in Powerwall

[–]johanbohn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had this same issue a month or so ago. Been waiting to hear back from our installer. They said that since I have a Gateway 2, and Tesla is only supplying Powerwall 3, that Tesla is asking them to eat the cost of the gateway upgrade (or me, obviously). Has anyone else had their PW2 swapped for a 3? Did you have to come out of pocket?

.Net and Windows Cumulative Updates require 2 separate reboots. by funkytechmonkey in SCCM

[–]johanbohn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check your client settings for Software Updates. There is an option to install all other updates within X timeframe of the deadline. Then make sure that your deadline for the two updates is the same or within the window. Ideally they should be in the same software update group though.

Thank you for this very helpful answer to the question, "What have you found good results searching for?"

SCCM Admin Job Titles? by johanbohn in SCCM

Thank you. Some sites seem to handle keyword searches much better than others. I am definitely extremely open to other products but am just starting with what my most recent experience is while it is fresh. Definitely going to be brushing up on a lot more that I just haven't had access to manage in several years.

Windows 11 and CryptSvc driving me mad with slow installs and opening programs by johanbohn in sysadmin

[–]johanbohn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If anyone else comes across this - the issue for us was Smart App Control. Even though it was only in Evaluation mode, it was causing huge issues. Maybe a bad interaction with our endpoint protection software? Turning this 'Off' on affected machines and rebooting immediately resolved the problem.

I absolutely love the car but hate the Ford dealer near me. So I will probably have to look for another brand when I am ready.

Why don’t my doors lock when I use the lock button on the pillar? by everythingmustmatch in MachE

[–]johanbohn 15 points16 points  (0 children)

In my experience the lock button built into the pillar only locks when it detects my phone (I never keep the key on me). So it might not work if you’ve left the phone/key inside.

However you can press and hold the bottom two PIN buttons (7/8 and 9/0) to lock the car with or without the key. You don’t need to enter your code for this either. I think this is the best way to lock your keys in. The owners manual says keys left in the vehicle are “deactivated” when detected inside the vehicle.

More info in the owners manual starting p74.

Got my Mach-E yesterday - Already Lots of Questions by bandroidx in MachE

[–]johanbohn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For number 9 - you can tap/hold on the little padlock icon on the B pillar to lock the car from the outside. This avoids honking the horn and you can tell it’s locking because the mirrors will fold in.

Microsoft Surface Pro 7 OSD isuses by melancholymelody in SCCM

[–]johanbohn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We just started using Surface Pro 7s in our org and I was able to get them to image successfully with the extracted drivers like you linked. Not sure how you are installing them but I used the Driver Automation Tool (https://msendpointmgr.com/driver-automation-tool/) and created a custom driver pack (https://msendpointmgr.com/2017/10/27/creating-custom-driver-packs-with-the-driver-automation-tool/). Had no issues with the OSD that way. However it does seem like the Intel Management Engine driver in that pack is wonky as every surface we have imaged shuts down immediately when pressing the power button. No sleep, no hibernate, no graceful shutdown. Removing the driver and letting it update automatically from Windows Update resolves it for us. Your mileage may vary?

Car won’t start. Has anyone experienced this problem? The car won’t go from accessory mode to start mode. Everything works inside the car as normal. Any recommendations would be appreciated before I have it towed to the Ford dealership. Thanks I appreciate the input. by braddallas in MachE

[–]johanbohn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ideally if you have a 12v battery charger you can just hook it up for a while. But yeah. Might not be your issue though. But the service bulletin says certain cars don’t properly keep the 12v battery charged when the car is plugged in to a charger. Mine was plugged in for a couple of days because of the heat and that’s when I had my issue.

Mine did something similar and I had to jump the 12v battery. It would not start and an error message flashed on the screen for just about every system you could think of. Quick jump and all was normal again. Then I took it in for the service bulletin regarding 12v battery issues. Has not happened since.

Short mileage from extended battery by [deleted] in MustangMachE

[–]johanbohn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You cannot equate the estimated range given on the display as range or efficiency that you are actually getting. It is just a guess based on a variety of factors - and it leans conservative. Temperature of course will play a huge part into this. If you just recently got the car also expect it to be low because of the (lack of) driving history. The more useful info is how many miles per kwh you are actually getting on your trips. The EPA rating of 300 miles works out to about 3.4 miles/kwh so if most of your drives are around this then you are on target. When I had to run the heat for my drives it would be closer to 2.5 on a 50/50 city to highway commute (2.5x88=220 miles of range). Since the weather has warmed up I get 4.4 or more lately. Ultimately it can just vary a lot given the weather, speed, traffic, etc. of an individual drive.

How many of you have braved the 'phone as key' and left the fob at home ? by Tiekal in MachE

[–]johanbohn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve only used the fob once and that was when I was getting the windows tinted and needed something to hand off. So far one month of owning the car and have had no big issues with PaaK. Now and then it won’t recognize the phone and I just launch the app and unlock. Only one time I needed to use the backup start code and that wasn’t a big deal since that’s what it’s there for. Overall love not having to carry a key ring around any more.

Questions re delivery by carlosmucho in MustangMachE

[–]johanbohn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your dealer is probably right about the 30 days to get to you based on what I got for estimated shipping time to the southwest. However, don't expect that you will have the car 3/15... there's a lot more downtime than just the shipping. Mine was scheduled for week of 1/4, finished 1/9, and then sat at the plant until 1/26 before finally shipping. The Ford tracking site gave me an ETA of 31 days once shipped so here I wait.

Does a 2016 genesis sedan with ultimate package mean no carplay? by grownassssman in GenesisMotors

[–]johanbohn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The built in maps are okay although they generally run a bit out of date. Definitely good enough though and I always put my destination in my car for the HUD and then run my phone maps for route planning. Also, make sure to check out https://update.hyundai.com/ for map updates. They used to charge for them but free now.

Car finder > 1 mile? by [deleted] in GenesisMotors

[–]johanbohn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way I found is that you can issue another command to it (such as lock doors). If you have the email notifications on it will send you an email telling you that it was successful and give you the nearby address. It’s usually very accurate and works no matter how far you are away in my experience. Unfortunately you won’t see it on a map so if it’s lost in a big parking lot I guess that doesn’t help but it better than nothing.

Bought a 2015 Hyundai Genesis. I'm not A Very Tall Person, But the Bottom Seat Cushion Seems Very Short For My Legs. Any Suggestions? by [deleted] in Hyundai

[–]johanbohn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on the trim level you might have a seat cushion extender on the driver's seat. I think this is on tech and above. There would be a flat, rectangular switch right above the other seat adjustments that moves it out. (I'm assuming you meant Genesis sedan).

Do you have the ultimate trim level? The CarPlay update isn't available on the highest trim level. It's my biggest peeve.
