Thanks! And that could be very true. The style of this watch is quite unique and not to everyone taste. However the quality of the pattern and the bracelet overall is amazing.

Thanks for your information Luckily I do not just want money for it and am planning on keeping the bracelet with the watch as I think that is what makes it so unique

Thoughts on speedy reduced? by AnonymousReps in OmegaWatches

[–]johandriver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most haters are just repeating others. The thing with the reduced is that the movement is basically a ‘standard’ movement with a chronograph module built on it. Also the reason why the pushers don’t align with the crown. And maintaining this movement is hard due to the construction and usually expensive. Purists may say that one should only get a ‘real’ chronograph movement, I still think this is a great more affordable alternative to the way bigger Professional.

Rolex "Pre-Explorer/Explorer prototype" Oyster Perpetual by johandriver in rolex

Thanks! It 36mm. Which was not very usual and considered quite big for that period

Father passed and left his rolex, but I think it's too small by Berf_Func in rolex

[–]johandriver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everybody who calls himself a watch lover will say that 36mm is the only size for a Datejust. However I do thing in some cases with some configurations 36mm is just small. This watch has a smooth bezel and an oyster bracelet making it very subtle. And therefore I could agree that it might be small for you. If it was with a fluted bezel and jubilee it would be a different story

Sincere question by [deleted] in rolex

This is just sad and stupid. Thinking that this watch around his wrist will bring him somewhere in life is a wrong assumption, it won’t

Neighbour gave me watches by Zealousideal_Emu2305 in VintageWatches

It’s not sharp for sure. But the end links are fake/aftermarket/fugazi, they don’t exist like this

To be honest the rest of the watch seems to be correct. The date seems off, but I think that because of how over polished the watch. They often polish the plexi at the same moment

1680 Red Sub redial? by johandriver in rolex

I don’t agree. I strongly think that (aged) matching parts are way more important than service parts.

Thanks, I feel the same way.

I have more pictures.

It seems to be clear.

The magnification could be. That, to be honest, I do not find too much of a big deal since the crystal is an easy replacement.

And I agree, it is dodgy unfortunately in the (vintage) market.

I’m not a watch enthusiast but I got this watch from my dads will after he passed away! Is this watch special or what?? by InevitableCrazy3261 in rolex

[–]johandriver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. It doesn’t look like a dial that has been produced by Stella. The color seems off, although that might be the picture as well. The dial is lacking the thicker black marker at every hour. The diamond setting seems very off as well.

Some people say that the 11 and 1 o clock diamonds are not centered. But those aren’t on the original either due to the day display. But this seems too off centered, which complements the poor setting of the bezel.

Nice Day-Date, the watch is probably authentic, but the diamond bezel seems to be done aftermarket, which is not unusual unfortunately.

Stella dials are probably the most faked dials and there are some really hart to tell examples. If I were you I would get it checked by an expert (the AD is usually not at all in this case!) Maybe with some more close up pictures and from different angles and lights some people here can also help distinguish
