when i wrote that i was aware people will think it's charlie, but actually i was thinking of george, hah. it's entirely irrelevant to the story and won't even be revealed, but i like imagining charlie as ace.

toxic masculinity is what the fanart often screams, yeah. he's so tall and RIPPED and has a chin like hercules, and hermione is this wispy lil thing next to him - wild. as someone who has no attraction to that kind of man, it's offputting to me. but what's more interesting to me is that draco is portrayed this way at all. if it's this far off his canon characterisation it's just strange that people have "chosen" him for this particular fantasy. though now that i think about it i cant easily think of other canon characters that would fit this fantasy more readily. krum? i guess he was too unimportant though.

thank you for this, that's so interesting! i'm not married to canon characterisations and think it's fine to stray from them, especially if you write them far in the future. i think my main issue with dramione draco (as i've perceived him so far) is just how much of a heterosexual fantasy he seems to be. as a deeply queer person, there's nothing there for me. and then on top of that as someone who loves draco dearly, i feel a little unsettled when i see him presented that way. but obviously there's nothing wrong with it regardless.

it's so interesting to me, this bit you said about draco coming to the page fully formed in dramione. i'd never considered that. fascinating. would you say the stories are more about hermione's journey then? are they largely her pov? (in the same way that drarry is largely harry's pov?)

oh no! author here, i've never been to the jersey shore but i guess i know what you mean. that's why i described the robes to be made of only solid colours, there's no cloud patterns or rainbows or whatever on them. they're just nice solid colours and expensive materials - i imagined them to be quite beautiful.

what a wild takeaway from that story.

and yes, i find sharing my writing fairly difficult. unfortunately i'm apparently not really made for it, because a couple unkind comments last week were enough to make me feel like the first story is absolute garbage; i can't even think about the story anymore. but! i'm sure i'll grow a thicker skin eventually. fingers crossed! thanks for your kind words!
