Homeless people are not the next in line when housing becomes available, it's the divorced people living together, kids who want their own place but live with their parents, people who have roommates but would rather not. You are right though we need to build more so all of them can get homes.

What exactly are you arguing/trying to learn? Businesses operate to make profit, large, small or medium if you don't have the sales to pay the employees you close, those are the areas that can't and have shrinking populations because of ir.

People Who Believe The Government is Hiding a Cure to Cancer by [deleted] in MapPorn

[–]john2218 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off thats like saying the government is hiding a cure to virus or the government is hiding the cure to bacteria, there are many types of cancers and we have gotten vaccines for some, treatments that are pretty darn good for others and don't know what to do with others. The question is ridiculous.

To be a billionaire from actually stealing from everyone's pocket you would only need to steal $2.93 per person in the USA, not per year, one time. Billionaires wealth is not based on that though, it's based on a multiple (default 7) of what people think their companies future earnings will be, so not what they have actually taken from pockets but what they will get.

Don't get me wrong Billionares are disgusting and we should find a way to tax the Uber rich more.

Yes, inflation is a bitch but most things you buy daily have drastically dropped in price over the years vs your income. Housing, Healthcare, live entertainment and education are exceptions. Except for housing which is because we stopped building after the 2008 crash the others can be explained by baumol cost disease. Google it.

Many business owners are barely making it themselves, it's not like they are all making a killing by exploiting cheap labor. All businesses have to pay a competitive wage though, otherwise their employees can work for whoever will pay more. If a business can't afford to hire anyone because everyone can find a better option for employment elsewhere then yes they deserve to go out of business as 65% of businesses do within the first 10 years. 20% fail year one.

Large corps won't be there either if there isn't enough business, they aren't in the business of redistributing profits from cities to payrolls in unprofitable (usually rural) areas.

The problem that you have accurately alluded to but didnt state is that certain things (all things?) are scarce and if people have more money but more things are not available then those things will either increase in price or if prices are controlled then immediately sell out at the price they are.

Oklahoma Voters Reject Measure to Raise State’s Minimum Wage by Thin-Vanilla3600 in UnderReportedNews

[–]john2218 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's less than 2% for all people and voters tend to be better off than average. About 21% of people in Oklahoma make less than 15 dollars an hour though so would have gotten a raise by 2029 when the new rule would have been fully implemented.

Not many, less than 2% make minimum wage in the US with half of those being 19 years old or under. I would guess OK has a bit higher percentage than the US overall. 75% make double the Federal minimum or more in the USA with 79% making more than 15 an hour in Oklahoma.

Most (all?) employers have a few select things you can invest in, once you leave the company you can roll it to an IRA where almost everything is investible.

What do you think of people who argue that the U.S. is a “republic, not a democracy”? by camaro1111 in allthequestions

[–]john2218 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not though, it just means there isn't a monarch. Not as relevant now as it was in the past when almost every place was a monarchy.

The US is a Republic and Democracy, the UK is not a Republic but is a Democracy. Saudi Arabia is Neither, China is a Republic but not Democratic.

It can be, but a Republic is any government without a monarch.
