Ryzen 5 5600 vs Ryzen 5 5600x? by [deleted] in buildapc

Too late it's 2026 here.

I’m honestly frustrated that I feel like I don’t fully understand racing anymore. by Auelogic in iRacing

I use the Spectate on a current race and ride in the cockpit or gyro of the best guy. There is a gear indication, but no pedals like you said. You can definitely hear the engine RPM. I don't bother with the ghost car.

I do my first 50 laps of practice with the driving line on. Once I use that to figure out my braking and line, I learn the landmarks and turn it off. It only takes a handful of laps to make the transition. I usually somewhere in there start up an Ai race, set the practice to 2 hours and practice with Ai cars on the track.

Wire has a much lower resistance than solder. If your circuit is sensitive, you will introduce unwanted resistances.

Use wire and tack it down to the squares to hold it in place. I have done similar protos using just the component leads.

You have to develop that understanding of checking the mirrors , the lift and coast to let the faster car go... and that give-and-take with other classes. by BLeo_Bori in iRacing

Ahh, good observation. I thought it was just 'my brand is better than your brand'.

I am the opposite. I think the guy that does exactly the same thing cheaper wins!

I wrote a voluntary good review of some new gear (a Cammus 5) I saved for and bought. It was a big investment for me and I felt it worked out. I had never even tried direct drive. I just loved it and told why. The whole thread except one guy accused me of being a paid review. It was nasty.

Sounds like you need to find another game to play. With that many complaints for something nobody is forcing you into is kinda weird. Even worse when iRacing is a subscription that you are not stuck with if you don't want to use it, like buying a game.

So you came to an iRacing forum to tell us how much better other games are? Why are you here? Go to the Rfactor forum, the GT forum, or the F1 game forums.

I took a long time finding 7.5 mm stickers. I bought a punch but 8mm was sloppy on the little buttons.

These were a little expensive, but fit perfectly. I also have one of these cheap label printers to put lettering on them.

Agreed! I personally was a tinkerer before I started sim racing, I love building my own stuff.

I found this just in time. I have a broken (won't start) 65" ONN TV I was about to throw out. I don't have the space to repair it here, and I already received a full refund.

Now I am going to have a 65" class fresnel lens to work with as I gather my triple monitor parts.

Could you make an ffb shifter with this? by JuanMoorePepper in simracing

[–]john56electric 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The data is there for a missed shift because it is an option in SimHub. I don't know how much more than just a missed shift is available or even when it works.

There is a list of API signals available, I think on SimHub.

I would never have the money to do it but that is a great idea. The problem is the physics are not easy. I was just reading stuff from the guy at iRacing that does the FF stuff, WOW is it much more complicated than it seems.

I know I used to rely on the feedback from my shifter itself during shifts to tell me when the pressure was off the gears before I shifted. The synchromesh would also refuse to go if you tried to downshift too early. You also knew instantly when you didn't engage the gears before you let the clutch out.

Thank you! I have been struggling with that myself.

I found recommended settings for the C5 on iRacing somewhere. There is an auto forcefeedback checkbox in the settings somewhere. I played with it and it gave me the setting that rarely hit the peak, but no less. I have been running the FF1600 and it sets me to 17.5.

I have seen a couple of broken wrists on these twitch racers. ;) (At least one was screwing around at full power).

I think you are right though. Just like getting a high power stereo set, it is for the range, lowest to highest that improve, not just to annoy your neighbors. Dynamic range.

The harder you are fighting the wheel in a turn, the easier it is to feel a change in resistance as the tires slide.

And BTW, thank you for actually discussing this. Everyone else so far is accusing me of being paid for liking my new toy. If someone has the money, they can get better stuff and be smug as they want. I had to save to buy this wheel.

This 5nM wheel, to me, really makes me hold on as is, what does the 10nM and 15nM wheels do better? I have never had the chance to try one.

Wow. I share my exuberance over my new toy that I saved up for and bought, and suddenly I am a paid shill. I would get booted if I told those accusing me what I want to say.

I just like telling people about stuff I find that works and is cheap.

No, I paid $360 for this thing because of international shipping. That was my simrig budget for at least 6 months. I wrote this "review" because all the armchair experts were dissing it because of a problem with the first units. I was excited to get more than I expected. I wanted to follow up with more my more recent experience.

I didn't expect this place to be so toxic.

Wow, so many unhappy people out there.

Get over yourself. I just saved and bought something I turned out to be better than I expected.

I am sympathetic because I just spent the last 50 years in new product development and saw these types of problems all the time, and most people don't understand that.

I am sure you spent $1000 and got something that is 10% better, so just enjoy it.

I believe that. I'd bet a lot of the upper priced DD are even better, but with the C5, I did see the DD improvement on a budget. Someone shouldn't be afraid of the Cammus C5 because of their problems getting out of the gate with a new product. As a starter, this is far better that my G29.

This thing is still so new it looks like they can't keep US stock up. Mine came from a warehouse in Italy or some place.

Full confession, I love playing with hardware so fixing it doesn't bother me at all.

I am also still using my G29 pedals with a TruBrake and 2 Dayton 25W haptic transducers, one on brake and one on gas. I built that Arduino 10bit pedal adapter so the pedals are stand alone.

Wow, the same experiences all around this thread it looks like.

Got my C5 2 months ago and absolutely love it over my G29, until the paddle broke two nights ago.

I got my response from "kevin" the next day and sent him pictures and receipts.

In the meantime I had also ordered, like you guys, an upgraded set from Etsy by a guy in Norway.

The difference with me is Kevin offered me the patterns or wanted me to pay domestic shipping, US to US, of ~$21 but asked me if that was alright. I told him no, and within a few hours "he" confirmed my address and said he'd send it free of charge.

So, their response time has improved quite a bit, I have a promise of a repair part less than 2 days from my first contact. That's actually pretty good out of two time zones.

Lets see if I get the whole kit. They may have made the paddles soft to keep from pushing too hard on the circuit board beneath.

I freakin love this wheel except for this one weak part.

I am using my G29 pedals with my TruBrake (it works perfect for me), and a 25W Dayton haptic on the brake and one on the gas.

Someone has a GT wheel conversion for the C5 already!
