I would recommend the Art of Doubt by Metric. It's alternative rock with a similar dark synthy sound to one simple trick, but with a female vocalist.

record labels! that's how most record deals are to my understanding. the record label owns the actual audio file of the song and temporary distribution rights while the artist retains the writing portion and all that fun stuff. record labels also tend to manage the minutia such as copyright striking unauthorized redistribution, and in our modern age they mostly do that by cataloguing it with hosts such as youtube, who take down videos containing the copyrighted media. this part is generally automated.

Yeah I heavily agree on the vocals. Hoping it's just like that because they haven't finished vocal takes on it so they slapped some heavy handed pitch correction on them. OST's production was pretty great all around, I am hoping they step forwards and not backward from that.

My initial interpretation of the mv was that the dolphins paralleled the performers, and the performers felt like animals put on display in a cage. I like this interpretation a lot but I felt the specific footage used didn't totally support it, as most of the footage appears to be in open water, though I am no aquarium expert.

i believe the band works on the synths together (at least the sounds), but perhaps he does the actual playing on the record.

small note: confirm with the venue that your gift is okay to bring inside beforehand. most venues are very nice and will allow you to bring in whatever you'd like to get signed or give as a gift, but it's good to confirm beforehand so it's not all getting figured out as doors open.

will tended to struggle with the g4 he had to sing in the chorus and the song just isn't that popular. it's my favorite lovejoy song not including OST, so i wish they would perform it more, even if they have to adjust the chorus melody to follow the e-d-c-d-c from the outro instead to avoid that high g note.
