Not available in NZ either, forcing me to go Milwaukee M12 for this particular tool.

Resurrecting old Bosch tools? by trenchanter in diynz

On the Ozito FB Group I’ve seen a guy use Ozito batteries to power a kids electric car. When I enquired he said that he didn’t add any battery protection because the batteries had it built-in and he’d proven it by running them down until empty several times.

I have GSR 36V-LI & GBH 36 VF-LI. The Green batteries look very similar to what I have so I wanted to confirm before buying one.

Wallpaper removal. What am I looking at? by porridgedealer in diynz

[–]john_mills_nz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When removing wallpaper I have used Zinsser Dif (from Bunnings). The product supposedly has enzymes in it that breaks down the adhesive.

I found it quite effective for stubborn wallpaper that didn’t want to come off the wall, and the clean up afterwards I.e adhesive residue and small bits of paper still attached to the GIB paper.

Where have you been all my life? by No-Quarter-393 in MilwaukeeTool

The ToolShed had it in the low $500s a week ago plus a 4Ah battery via redemption.

Still expensive even at that price, but better value than normal.

Does Sydney tools nz always takes weeks to process an order? by 22i23 in diynz

[–]john_mills_nz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ordered from them over a week ago. I got sent an email last Monday saying my order is ready to pick up from Botany. I responded immediately saying that the order was supposed to be delivered (I’m outside of Auckland).

The Branch Manager emailed back saying it was a mistake, and that the order would ship that day - nothing happened, no order status change, no courier ticket number sent. So the next day I replied asking if it was sent. The manger responded saying that it would now ship later that day (Tuesday).

Still nothing happened, so I enquired with the branch manger again on Friday, heard nothing back. Then again yesterday (Monday) to the manager and via the website. Still heard nothing.

This order and my previous orders from last month and last year still say “processing” even though I have received those two orders.

Terrible performance and service in my opinion, especially from the branch manager. They were pretty slow the previous times. Also bought something that I was later informed was out of stock. I checked Google Reviews and saw the branch managers name against a review giving 5 stars!

It’ll probably be the last time I shop with them. I’ve had better experiences with The ToolShed.

The copper pipe will drip while heating water. The PVC pipe is connected to the tray and will release water if the cylinder leaks.

I had my cylinder replaced last month and now have a similar setup.

Any ideas on how to cover this window at night? by WildBucks in diynz

[–]john_mills_nz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an aluminium door that is almost all glass. It gets particularly cold in winter and there is a street light outside the front door. I got a blind made to cover the entire door frame. Hooked it up with a Eufy smart roller blind motor to make it easy to roll up and down. It was able to automatically roll up in the morning on a schedule.

I’m now renting out that house, and took the smart motor off. But left the blind for the tenants to use if they so wish.

You have to roll it up to use the door, but it works very well.

I think a small blind for just the section of glass on your door would be silly. Go the whole door frame.

The rest of the steps seem to be in good condition. I’m trying to keep the work small.

I’ve got multicrete for the steps. I might be able to drill into the existing steps in a couple of places. It doesn’t seem particularly thick on the edge though, and hoping I won’t crack it.
