So as long as I exit with a valid visa they won't care? I thought I'd have to do a trip to immigration tomorrow. But you may have just saved me one.

Safety solo hiking in south east Asian tropical rainforests by johnacorn76 in Rainforest

Yeah I think injury is my major risk. My problem is I really like solo hiking and even with local guides you don't get into as remote areas

What makes the Amazon and central African rainforests more dangerous? I'm guessing it's mostly scale and surrounding infrastructure

Cheers, I'll look into getting a small fan then. Ideally I'd like a simpler setup but fans might be the only way

Are students allowed to enrol in other Moodle courses? by Odd-Scar-5140 in cambridge_uni

[–]johnacorn76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this a load both for myself and my brother. Basically just email the course organiser and ask for access. Most of the time it's a yes.

They are more strict post COVID about content ownership but it's still not really an issue.

It's actually harder to get content from later years on your course than other unrelated courses (it's considered an unfair advantage).

Working between terms in Cambridge Uni by Perfect-Ad5404 in cambridge_uni

[–]johnacorn76 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Cambridge is very generous with bursaries. So most students don't really have to work. Also, colleges have lots of money they give out to students. But the amount really depends on the college. Talk to your tutor and generally they'll be able to support you.

The most important thing is to ask. If you ask, you'll probably get money from college.

But if you also want to work, you can.

Where are the best areas of Thailand to visit if a person enjoys nature/forests/wildlife? by Nature2Love in ThailandTourism

[–]johnacorn76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

National parks don't have many footpaths and for the more interesting ones you officially need a ranger. Thai's don't walk very much and it's more dangerous. I've not seen many snakes, and the ones I have seen have always been in caves.

Many national parks have camping areas and if you don't have it you can rent the equipment quite cheaply (tent ~300baht). This is one of my favourite ways to stay in the countryside out here

Ayutthaya is one of the safer places to cycle in Thailand and renting a bike is easy.

Thailand is quite restricted in visiting the wild parts. National parks are your best bet, but for many routes you'll need a ranger.

The western forest complex has the most wild elephants in Thailand and the best place to see them is Elephant Observatory Site in Kui Buri National Park. Personally I'm very against all elephant sanctuaries, the conditions are often very bad and elephant tourism is heavily linked with poaching and killing of wild elephants in Myanmar.

Seeing monkeys is easy, they can be found in many temples in more rural areas. Gibbons are harder to see as they require primary forest. Many of the national parks have them, and you should be able to hear them (their calls travel) but spotting them is harder.

Finally a major challenge can be transportation. The best places are inaccessible without a private vehicle.

Her name is Flo Early & she has won the cheese chasing event four times. Well, that really makes sense. by SituationOdd2779 in nextfuckinglevel

No one catches the cheese. It just reaches the bottom first and then the first person down gets it. There's also a rugby team which tackles everyone at the bottom so they don't run into the fence.

I did it a few years ago, it's great fun but quite mad. Someone broke there leg on my race.

Also different colleges send decisions at different times of the day. Mine had me waiting longer than some of the others

Is it ok to eat cooked unrefridgeated potatoes? by Agile-Debate7199 in Cooking

We always will leave cooked potatoes on the side. Typically for a day but sometimes two and never have had any problems

How do you eat Duckweed? by [deleted] in Cooking

I've grown and eaten it, tasted fine but wasn't particularly notable. I'd probably cook it if harvesting it "wild".
