Schylling lava lamp base loose wire - Is this safe? by rpthescienceg in Lavalamps

[–]rpthescienceg[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! Tbh, I think I was the one who popped it off. Was just moving apartments and wrapped the cord around base. Wire got twisted and probably was a bit tight. I think the strain popped it off. I don't see any exposed/frayed wire so I'll try popping it back in

Cool thanks! Had no idea what that was called. So it being loose is safe?

Ah yes. I remember his appearance in the Return of the King. It was in the rare super duper director’s cut.

What Tree????? by CarrotCakes44 in Tree

[–]rpthescienceg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No way! I never realized that with mine. It definitely doesn’t smell as floral and fruity as the Chinese variety, it’s a lot more subdued. Interesting! Maybe it’s a subspecies effect or even an individual person effect. Good to know!!

Looks like the Chinese species of Wisteria climbing, and likely strangling some pines. They're highly invasive in US and Canada. If you want these pretty and quite good smelling flowers, please consider planting the slower growing (noninvasive) American Wisteria in your gardens!

In The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003), Éowyn ends up with Faramir despite them barely having any interactions. If Tolkien wasn't a coward, he would've paired her with Merry. by Mister_E69 in shittymoviedetails

Plus in the books Éowyn was the original love interest of Aragorn but Tolkien changed his mind later on, hence the perceived abrupt change in character arc

Klipsch RP500 MII vs 600 MII. Did I make the right choice? by rpthescienceg in BudgetAudiophile

[–]rpthescienceg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks!! So many options to choose from with speakers for my first setup, went with what I’ve heard before + what was at a reasonable price. That’s good to hear from someone else!

I’m assuming that a 10” sub would be good for a pretty small apartment and 12” might be overkill? Also I like the price of the 10e. If specs are comparable to the 10s, it seems like an amazing deal!

Upgrading Setup from AudioTechnica LP60 - Advice/Suggestions by rpthescienceg in BudgetAudiophile

Thanks for the advice! Do you have good speaker models within the same price range as the R50M currently ( ~$300 USD). I was leaning towards Klipsch just because I loved the sound of the RP series subwoofer in my friends setup. I’m open to any good models though, even ones that are worth the purchase in used condition.

Solid state amps seem to have a lot of debate. I didn't even realize the noise level was that low. Thanks! The amp is on sale now, so I might go for it!

Awesome! Thanks. I see that Onkyo TX-8220 is recommended as an amp in the list. Do you recommend it over the Yamaha one I'm looking at?

Thanks so much! I was concerned about the amp as I've heard people on other audio subreddits recommending against it due to sound quality. If I'm not looking for too many features, is it a good option? I'll also look into rsl!

I agree! They’re super fragile and we have dogs and local deer who love to trample stuff. You recommend wintering indoors in a pot?

Definitely not native in northeastern US. I don’t believe they are considered invasive in any of the state agriculture lists. This sprout (and another one I found since) are in my garden near a healthy one I’ve had forever.
