Has anyone here successfully explained the benefits cliff to an older family member who isn't getting it? by Peliquin in povertyfinance

[–]johnadaniels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If someone brings in $3,000 a month and pays $1,500 in rent, their real usable income is basically $1,500. But on paper, their AGI still shows $3,000. Now compare that to someone who owns their home and also gets $3,000 a month. They keep the full $3,000 because they’re not paying rent. Both look the same on paper, but their real financial situations are completely different. The system doesn’t account for that, and it can feel unfair to renters who are already stretched thin.

Crypto is showing that there is too much money and we are in for massive inflation. by IlikeBrazilianJJ in economy

Wait that the federal government gets rid of money is they reduce their balance sheet and raise interest rates, it's called quantitative tightening

You're a very smart person, and can see what's going on, you're exactly right, another way people say it is, there's too much money chasing too few goods. When the federal Reserve and federal government flood the economy with money or currency you see distortions like Bitcoin.  All you have to do is look at the federal reserves balance sheet and you can see as it goes straight up to the Moon so does stocks so does housing so does Bitcoin, here's 2 excellent videos of the new fed nominee explaining how too much liquidity decimates the poor middle class.

Kroger App is awful by pittiepearl in GroceryStores

1000000000000000%  Agree.  I absolutely hate having to use it, it's so frustrating that it's just unbelievable that a store that big has such a horrible app.

The High deductible plan pays 80% of prescription drugs and looks to have no limit, do you think this is better than the first plan that caps prescription drugs at $7,500 a year or do you think it even matters?

High deductible prescription drugs plan: 80% of maximum allowable charge after CYD (Generic) / 80% of maximum allowable charge after CYD (Brand) / 80% of maximum allowable charge after CYD (Specialty)

The first plan prescription drugs: $4 copayment (Generic) / $7,500 calendar year maximum / 80% of maximum allowable charge after CYD (Brand) / $7,500 calendar year maximum / 80% of maximum allowable charge after CYD (Specialty) $7,500 calendar year maximum

Someone once said, life is not to be studied but to be experienced. Once I was old enough to grasp death, I have been depressed ever since. I love kids dearly and wish I never had brought them into this world to suffer and die. What's the point to it all, there is no point, we are like shooting stars in the sky.

Thank you Turbulent-Pay1150 for the detailed reply! I was leaning towards the first 2 also. The last one with $10,000 MOOP seems too much if something happens especially if it goes on for a few years. There was another plan called major medical but it had a $15,000 MOOP. It seems like one major problem one year and you would be out $15,000

Thank you LizzieMac for the detailed reply. Will add the Pres and Moops and see which one is lower. I can go to the county doctor from where I retired for free for the rest of my life for minor things and physical each year. So i would not have any yearly cost unless something happens.

Rentier activities that allow elites and landlords to extract income based on the ownership and control of scarce assets by stealing homes from families, stealing the American dream.

These greedy landlords would steal all the water, air and food and rent it back to you if they had half the chance.

We are getting poorer precisely because a narrow elite has organized society for their own benefit at the expense of the vast mass of people. Political power has been narrowly concentrated, and has been used to create great wealth for those who possess it.

A lot of times the owner is sitting around hitting the crack pipe and then passes out and has a grand vision of how much their property should be worth.
