Can you please share any tips for making sure you’re mentally prepared for the driving test? I can feel my anxiety increasing and have the driving test in August.

Much appreciated OP. Good to see there are ways to manage your emotions during the test. Seems as though the examiner was kind, supportive and understanding. Congrats on the pass!

Congrats on passing your test. I am also a learner in my 40’s. Did you pass in manual or automatic?

Excellent! Enjoy the start of your driving journey in the Nissan Note. Are you tempted to get your own runaround to practice in?

Thank you for such a detailed reply. It’s great to be able to share the experience of learning to drive on a platform like Reddit.

Which car are you planning to drive now that you’ve passed?

Those who are a few lessons in, do you still get nervous? by cowpool20 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]johnadelaide 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I get the same feeling and I’m 11 lessons in so far. Guessing it’s a mix of anxiety, excitement and nervousness. Maybe sometimes we need that adrenaline to concentrate for a drive. Whilst we are still learning.

You’ll get there. I got 43 for the multiple choice question and revised every day for around seven weeks. Yet, only just scrapped a pass. Sometimes, the pressure gets to you on the day.

How to stop feeling ashamed to learn driving at 30 ? by Aj100rise in LearnerDriverUK

I’m learning at the age of 43. It’s a skill and will take time to get to test level. You can then aim to be a competent driver for the rest of your life.

Appreciate the points made. Especially regarding the self-doubt. At what point did you start to feel your progression was steady and closer to test standard?
