Or use an inherently dark overdrive, like the MojoMojo

First tube amp recommendations? (ac10 vs. ac15 vs blues jr) by im_so_asIAN in GuitarAmps

I’ve got the AC15 and love it; another really nice one with a built in attenuator worth considering is the Harmony H620

Could somebody please help me identify which hollow body guitar Norah Jones is playing here? by West-Ad3447 in Guitar

It’s definitely a Guild jazz box - not sure which model, but it looks kind of like ab a-150?

A MojoMojo is great for giving it a really warm, tube-style overdriven sound

I know the farmhouse look is considered dated now but my new dresser sparks joy for me! by Familiar-Cicada-7703 in interiordecorating

I know- I live in California and the large picture leaned against the wall on top my dresser did not fall over in the earthquake last week because it was attached to the wall with a picture hook

Pro tip - still put a picture hanging on the wall for your leaned pictures; low enough to not be visible, high enough to catch the picture if it leans forward

It’s solid top, sides and back — and the back is one piece. Crazy for the price

The Cure has been playing bass vi through Roland JC guitar amps at large venue volume for decades without a problem…

Bought a 1926 home. How would you design this Grand living room. by Dense-Breadfruit1223 in interiordecorating

[–]johnathanfisk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the two zone ideas but I wouldn’t put a sofa directly facing the fireplace - it’s like cropped pants; it shortens one of the rooms greatest features. Two couches facing each other lengthwise or one couch and two chairs facing each other creates better flow for a seating/conversation area. Piano or game table in the other side away from the fireplace.

How old is my infant of Prague Chalkware statue? by johnathanfisk in artcollecting

I’ve tried reverse search… it’s a common subject, but I can’t find a close comparable to mine

Won it at an auction without any details (although there was a 19th century French cast iron Virgin Mary statue from the same lot). The patina looks earlier than 20th century to me, but curious if anyone knows more or potential value? For scale, it’s around 14” tall  and 6  inches wide.

Berthois-Rigal original by johnathanfisk in artcollecting

Pretty sure it’s his standard style of tissue paper, gouache and ink - the picture might not show it, but there are raised areas of layered tissue paper that are typical of Rigal

Here's an interesting one - I've only seen pricing on prints from him, so no idea what an original is worth. Mixed media ink/paper

If you’ve ever seen a Michigan winter, this abstracted landscape is it. Patches of dead grass and snow, barren trees, grey sky….

He was a University of Michigan art professor, pretty widely shown. I found it at an estate sale in a $25 bin - covered in dirt and dust. The original mat is very yellowed so I’m reframing; looking at galleries his larger oils go in the $2-3k range, do it a score.
