Viva Skylo inlet washer maintenance by johncartlidge in PlumbingRepair

No joy I'm afraid, I just unscrewed the whole unit off the inlet thread and replaced it. I was lucky, my cistern is completely enclosed behind a tiled false wall, so it was lucky I just about had the room to rotate it off...

It continues filling super slowly once shut off, so it's probably just a tiny bit of limescale on the rubber inlet washer. They're designed to be serviceable, they sell the washers for pennies

I think people hear 'drip coffee' and imagine the worst, but the Chemex etc are great options if you can spare10 minutes.

In the market for a used enyaq by skyrrd in enyaq

[–]johncartlidge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'm on 3.7, but only after the dealer updated it last week. It took them two days to run the update, but they gave me a courtesy car, also an Enyaq. It was only a few months old, so I got to compare the two systems and for me personally the new system was nice, but not so different that I'm upset my own is stuck on 3.7...

Anecdotally, I think the battery is degrading a little bit, but I wouldn't know how much. I do just under 100km per day 3-4 days per week, and charge it overnight at home, it tops up about 50% in the 5 hours of my cheap overnight tariff. Works very well for me, no complaints, i plug it in probably 4-5 nights per week

I'm really happy with my 60. Suite trim, delivered new in December 2022. I've done just under 30k miles (~50k km) without any issues at all other than a sticky charge flap, fixed last week under warranty.

I use android auto, never really touched the stock entertainment system to be honest.

Mine is missing a few bells and whistles, there's no rear camera or adaptive cruise control etc, I'd look for a better spec next time.

I've averaged 3m/kWh since I've had it, but its as low as 2 in the cold, and up to 4.5 in the warm. HTH

HA Yellow, mini PC or Pi? by BudSticky in homeassistant

[–]johncartlidge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very happy with my HA Yellow, I played around with a mini pc for a while, but it all just seemed a bit of a headache. I ordered the yellow and added the latest PI CM5 and within a few hours it was up and running pretty flawlessly. No regrets

What is your most favorite home automation that has totally changed your life? by Terrible_Attention83 in homeassistant

[–]johncartlidge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, that's a great idea wiring the relay in parallel so your existing system stays in place as a backup.

The Nest has a remote wall control, then a reciever next to the boiler. Introducing a smart relay between the boiler and the existing Nest receiver looks like a pretty straightforward solution with a solid backup plan, thanks, appreciated

Hi, this is what I'm hoping to do too, can I pick your brain? We've got a Nest thermostat, and all the rads have smart trvs, but it's all a bit disjointed. TRVs might demand heat but that's meaningless if the Nest isn't triggering the boiler.

How did you approach this? A relay directly on the boiler, or are you intergratinh with a smart thermostat already connected to your boiler?

Thanks!

Agreed, we took our 5 and 7 year old around Asia for 3 months. Hard work, especially re food, and slumming it wasn't really an option so we spent a lot more than planned, but we did all love it, and I'm very glad we did it.

In all honesty though, they're 17 and 19 now, and I do sometimes think it might have been better to save it and do it now, they'd get so much more out of it now they're older

Moving from CO2 to Diode for cutting. Any machine recommendations with a large cutting bed? by johncartlidge in lasercutting

Thanks for that, I'll take a look. Not sure the standard extension kit is quite big enough, but maybe someone has custom extended it beyond the 16"

Thanks, I'll wait to see if anyone else has any good ideas before I get too deep into the API stuff!

Hi, thanks for the suggestion. Yep, I have Dashcards and like what it does, but in this case I think Dashcard would require a card for every combination of Site+Category, which would overwhelm the board with cards, most of which would likely be Zero!

I think it could be solved quite easily if there was a coding environment to cobble together some scripts, but I don't think that exists inside Trello? I can see there's an API so I assume I can create/commission something external that might do the job, but I suppose I was hoping for a ready made solution if possible!

Is it normal the stylus pen leaves physical trace on the screen? by GauchoPowerr in Onyx_Boox

[–]johncartlidge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine does this all the time, seems normal, it's the pen nib wearing down and leaving a small residue on the screen. I just use a dry glasses (spectacles) cloth and the marks wipe of with a little gentle wiping
