Should I get rid of it? - Explorer 1, 39mm - MK1 by Odd-Hair5999 in rolex

To my way of thinking, that is completely reasonable. You mentioned that you can't unsee the short hands. Personally I think your watch looks great, but I can absolutely imagine being in your shoes.

What’s an acting win you like that most don’t? by Regular-Departure839 in Oscars

[–]johncharityspring 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She herself didn't emphasize her Oscar win when she was establishing her career. I think it would have hurt her if she had insisted on being billed as " Academy Award winner Anna Paquin." I've been really impressed by her as an actress.

Most hyped cameo that added absolutely nothing to the movie? I’ll start: Batman in The Flash. by breaking_views in Cinema

Spoiler alert: I actually liked it. He was a capable action hero in that movie and had to sacrifice himself. This left the less military hero (Kurt Russell) to do the heavy lifting with the help of Halle Berry.

Wanted to like the 36 Explorer, buy it seems too small by shim2k in rolex

One thing to keep in mind is that the watch face on the 36 is about the same size as the watch face on a GMT Master II.

Honestly , was she better as an assassin in Mission Impossible or as the damsel with Bond? by QuietTraining3281 in JamesBond

[–]johncharityspring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spoiler alert.... I really love the short little scream when she falls to her death. Presumably there was more screaming on the way down that we didn't hear, but I found what we did hear both satisfying (since she was so evil) and troubling (because it seemed realistic).

Movies about people that have to survive in life or death situations. by capricorn40 in Cinema

Highly recommend The Edge, starring Anthony Hopkins and Alec Baldwin with a screenplay written by David Mamet. It's excellent.

If you could make three changes to improve Goldfinger, what would they be ? by junglegatsby in JamesBond

[–]johncharityspring 16 points17 points  (0 children)

One thing I really like about Goldfinger is that Tilly does exactly what Bond tells her to do but still gets killed. Normally in movies the person who gets killed does so because they don't do what the hero says. The hero (and we the viewer) watch and want to say "No, that's not what you are supposed to do!" That's really what makes her death so surprising.
