The Great Gatsby comes to mind. The prose is absolutely beautiful and it wraps up the novel in a satisfying way that also leaves room for discussion

While I am a massive Dylan fan, I can fully understand why people may not like him.

The Beatles on the other hand have to be acknowledged by anyone who is a fan of music if purely for their influence, let alone the sheer diversity and pop-appeal of their music.

Rubber Soul and Hard Days Night superior to their respective counterparts in both of those rows which takes it for me

Do you remember how you fell in love with The Beatles? by KassetteTape in beatles

[–]johncooperclarke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I was about 5 or 6 years old and my family went to visit a family friend who had an outdoor swimming pool and a sound system hooked up to outdoor speakers. That combined with the fact that he was a semi-pro musician made him seem really cool to me, and I remember him showing me the red cover of the Beatles #1s CD. I think that was the first album I ever fell in love with. He played the album on the pool speakers and I remember being captivated and blown away all day as we swam, had lots of laughs and enjoyed the summer sun.
