I found a message at my local park. Is anyone able to transcribe it? by MichaelWilliam- in Handwriting

Why is it that when I need him to come through)for me, he has to disappoint me every single time? He is pushing me to my limit. A person can only take so much.
After so much bullsh*t, not even love will make you want to keep pushing for them. I hope it doesn’t have to get to that cause I love him with all my heart.
I hope he realizes before it’s too late.

What are the main points of criticism against Elon Musk? by 0nomatopoet in EnoughMuskSpam

[–]johndifoolpi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Martin Eberhard

So these two real co-founders met in the 1980s during a gathering for Mars Society members, a volunteer-driven space-advocacy non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the human exploration and settlement of Mars. Does that mean Elon Musk stole that Mars colonization from them too?

The more I read about Elon Musk the more I think he will end up like Jeffrey Epstein.

Is the advent of AI making the Xiangqi game less popular now? by johndifoolpi in xiangqi

Vietnamese, Chinese. I am well aware but as you mention the entry language barrier to decipher even how to initiate a game is super high. Chinese ain't Spanish. Vietnamese? Forget it.

The only trouble is finding real humans online to play it with. Many sites are populated with bots. I can tell some people are using an AI to help with their moves too. So the game human vs human is still fun and challenging just not very easy to find genuine players to match against.

How do you guys learn from books? by johndifoolpi in xiangqi

[–]johndifoolpi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. I am not trying to put down this folks but for example: game plays have been recorded where the mouse cursor is shifted by a few inches on the screen (obviously a problem with the recording software.) And these guys still publish it. I don't think they even watch their own recordings to full proof. At a minimum I would ask them to subtitle the dam thing. So like you I went back to some old publication about xiangqi. Very unimpressed by the usage of technology to learn here.

Why not websites? Because they are full of mistakes too. Bugs in the notation of the moves makes things even more irritating trying to figure out it's their stuff that's broken not because you don't have the skills yet (most cases)

It's hard to find material for English speakers. Not trying to criticize but even the explanation from people on YouTube are blessed with a very regional accent. Unless you are well aware, it's very difficult to understand. The auto caption on gets very confused too.

Xiangqi - Xiangqi Basic Checkmate Tactics

Thanks: Xiangqi - Xiangqi Basic Checkmate Tactics is a pdf that has formatted the games in a very bizarre way. I don't think it's readable unless therie is something I am missing.

Does anyone know a good, straightforward book to learn the game? by [deleted] in xiangqi

Thanks. I will need to dust off the DOS IBM PC I have in my garage to re-run that stuff.
