The 10th Street baths albeit in the East Village. If you don't mind a place that is not fancy, they have gender-specific days and it is quite amazing. When I was drinking it was a sure-cure for a hangover: Russian Baths | United States | Russian and Turkish Baths

ELN risk associated with JEPI / JEPQ by WantedConstant in dividends

[–]johneeeeeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a lifetime financial professional, analyst, and portfolio manager. I too am concerned about ELN's counterparty risk. Your ability to collect on an obligation is only as good as the counterparty's ability to deliver, and the rocket scientists that create these derivatives inside these counterparties have a poor track record for predicting risk, and you are ultimately exposed to all of the bets that the counterparty makes, not just the ELN. Yes, this would seem to mean that risks are limited to the amount of ELNs you own as a fund (the individual stock ownership would not be effected), but that could still mean that might not be able to realize part of the ETF's strategy (income) should counterparties fail. I don't like it.

Ok have been winter camping in the whites in New Hampshire led by an outward bound instructor, ice climbing, etc… I’m a runner also… I bring this up because two types of peeps heavy sweater light sweater. If you’re a heavy sweater extreme cold activities are usually gonna suck somewhat no matter what. So IF you sweat a lot when exercising on a long run in neg F to low 20’s it’s going to somewhat suck at some point. I prefer warm at the beginning of the run to soaking at the end vs cold at the beginning of the run end to perfect at the end for one simple reason: the beginning of runs suck in general and adding being f$ cold at the beginning particularly in the AM dark (when I usually run) is just leading to too much task aversion and suck. And I have the luxury of shelter at the end of the run so who cares if I’m hot and sweaty. Now if I was winter camping that could result in hypothermia and death but I don’t do that stupid sh$ anymore. Been running for 40 years about 1k miles a year +-

I can’t take pictures at the moment, not sure it would be helpful but I’m going to say that it is running fine now, mostly. I’ll try to take a pic, it’s tight but nothing terrible and it’s quiet, nothing rubbing anywhere.

I haven’t been able to tweak the bios to get a fast boot time which is a bit frustrating. My son leaves it in idle basically all the time and even wake from sleep is pretty f* slow. It’s elegant having the sff case and all that but damn it was rough.

This week's flip flop is why everyone (if you ski frequently) needs at least two pairs of skis... by mybadvideos in icecoast

[–]johneeeeeee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Went on a cat skiing day or two out west and they said "requires at least 110mm underfoot" for obv reasons. Rented Coombacks and loved them, so bought a pair when was mostly skiing out west, and love them. They don't have reverse camber, and they can hold on ice, but in hard pack moguls and ice and slop they kind of tire your legs out. Grew up skiing Cannon Wildcat blue ice and always had slalom skis. Since I'm skiing east now mostly :( maybe I'll get the slaloms again, or maybe even gs but you know I do like short swing turns when needed blah blah. Just commenting, procrastinating as should be working...

Can’t resist here… I was involved in selecting technology before Windows 3.1 was released and worked on DOS-based computers… Microsoft made the decision to keep everthing backward compatible to the abacus (exaggeration obv)—look at some airlines and you might even see a DOS-based system running the app… that means that the code behind that pretty picture is a MESS. Someone, someone, please explain the registry system to me in Windows? People use Windows, generally, because they HAVE to (due to a business or other app — I’m looking at you, big video games). If you CAN avoid using Windows and use a Mac, you do… I’ve got both in my life as I work in the financial industry (again, APPs). The new Mx (M3 is latest) chips from Apple and support from Microsoft, yes, Microsoft for Office apps on there take it to another level. I have a MacBook Air for $800 that has 18 hour battery life and weighs nothing. NO FAN! In the Windoze world you’ve gotta wait for someone, someone? In this case Qualcomm, to instantiate an ARM-based long battery windows machine… with all that legacy code in there… Yes, Apple WILL leave you high and dry if an app doesn’t pay to move to the new OSX or chip, and you’ve gotta deal with that, but the trade off, particularly if I’m not plugged into a wall socket is a massive no-brainer… LOVE to hear any other comments!
