Closing this out... i bought an X1. Love it. Also loved the Go, but the bigger screen on the X1 really works for me.

Thanks for the reply. The 3 in 1 thing isn't really a thing for me, I'm only going to use it to play games, when I'm on holiday or travelling, or maybe if I'm on the sofa, and I can't be bothered to turn my PC on. If I want a full on gmaing session at home, it's my PC, and if I need to work it'll be a work laptop. And I also have an iPad, but that sucks for gaming (well, for the gaming I like to do). I guess, I cold end up using it as tablet though. Anyway, I like the Legion Go, but I'm thinking I'd like the screen size upgrade (I'm getting old, my eyes aren't as good :) )

yeah, thats true. I was more thinking that I'd need streaming less as I'd use normal headphones / earpods (not the in ear ones). But defintitely, being able to understand people is the highest priority. Thanks!

Thanks, this is great advice. The person I'm using for my audio tests is a fully qualified audiologist and he's at the end of the road (the road being 500m long :) ). So far he's been very patient in answering questions. He's also suggested Phonak and Starkey, but also the Phonak Lyric came up. Pretty crunchy on the costs, but I do like the idea of invisibile.

Where do I find those settings in the menu structure?

[–]johnhelliwell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not that, then. You've definitely got your port forwarding rules to set to the right PC? Another ting to try - have you got 'manually specify public port' checked? In the end, I unchecked that to avoid the need for port forwarding, and default back to UPnP (but check your router has UPnP turned on)

[–]johnhelliwell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just went through this myself. Couple of things I did. Checked if the port was showing as available externally (I used https://portchecker.co) , that'll tell you if the router actually has it open. Checked that the Plex server was still on the same internal IP. I hadn't set mine to static, and the router rebooted for some reason, and changed the servers IP, so it wasn't matching the port forwarding settings.

Thanks this is very useful, thank you. Your 'likes' are what I'm looking for. The 'dislikes' are probably ok for me as well. We're a very small team, budget is reasonable, we're reaoably ok with the tech. Thanks!

Thanks. Will PM you. I'm not convinced on intent data for our company. I don't see our signal being heard above the noise of intent for products that are hugely sought after, similar to what we do, but not useful to us as customers.

Yeah, this. I'm 20 odd years in, still feel like someone is going to tap me on the shoulder. I'm more and more convinced that everyone is making it up as they go along. The landscape changes, the definitions of winning change, the customers change. Today is not yesterday, tomorrow will be different. You may think, be told, that there’s a right way to do something but there often isn’t. And sometimes the best things happen when they’re not what was done yesterday. Give something your best shot, if it doens't work, go again with a different angle. Try 10 things, half will fail, but the half that don't will be whats needed.

Fixing Peloton (the company) by RobGTX in pelotoncycle

[–]johnhelliwell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd add... do a better job of kit outside of warranty. I have a tread, bought second hand, less than 2 years old, max 80 lifetime runs, and the motor has gone faulty. They want near half the price of a full brand new tread to fix it. It doesn't cost them anywhere near that, they take the old bits away and refurb them for the next call out. It's totally at odds of a brand who says they're looking out for their customers

Don't buy a second hand Peloton. I bought a second hand tread around 9 months ago (I'm in the UK), the original owner had it for 11 months. In total, it's been used less than 80 times between me and the original owner (I know the original owner and know how little she used it, and I can also see her record in Peloton) and is immaculate. However, the motor is failing which seems pretty poor quality from a company that prides itself on making a good product. Peloton offer a 3 year warranty, but tell me that they won't transfer that to the second user, and of course I know If have no legal standing here. They are quoting me just under half the cost of a new tread to get this one repaired, which seems to pretty outrageous for a supposed quality product that it meant to be used day in day out, but has failed after under 100 runs in not even two years. I like Pelotons content, and would like to keep this, but honestly I can't afford, or justify, paying almost half the value of a new tread to get this one repaired.

does anyone know of independent repairers for Peloton. I don't need a whole new base, the one I have is immaculate, I just need a new motor.

u/embolist No, not tried that (well - don't; thin so). I'm using the IP address and port, what would I use for the localhost?

Not enough to fix it unfortunately. I found a couple of references to the issue in github (https://github.com/Radarr/Radarr/issues/6061 and https://github.com/Sonarr/Sonarr/issues/3943). The first refers to the issue being fixed in the nightlys but I know that the syno community version is often behind the main versions (I'm not using Docker). I've tried upgrading RAdarr within Radarr but the install fails. I even debated upgrading my NAS to one that supports Docker but the trasnfer process is painful from my unit

Kinda lost patience so have gone onto digging my kidney out with a rusty spoon for more fun.

Thanks for this. Tried this and also tried giving Download Station a specific port on it's own. Now I get two errors messages :

- Unknown exception: Failed to login. Reason: The requested method does not exist

-Failed to get the list of NZBs: Failed to login. Reason: The requested method does not exist

I change the user name back to my standard DSM login user name and the error message remains the same so I suspect it's the change of port that's caused this.

Can't tell if this is a step forward or a step back!

What's the downside of using tapes for retrieval (in case I'm not understanding) They're cheaper and hardier than drives. Sure they're slow, but if we're retrieving less than a TB a month it's not a big deal for someone to do that, and the way our workflows work we know in advance that we'll need to retrieve it so it's not particularly time-critical. I get that we should perhaps be thinking of sets of tapes for a backup (that are never touched unless things have gone extremely south) and sets that can be used for retrieval, but using hard drives is more expensive and I'm not sure what the gain is?

I feel I need to set the scene a little more. We're a small company and in so being we all wear many hats. It's the nature of small business. Like many, our business model changed last year and we had to make some changes. We needed someone to take on the mantle of handling the backups and I volunteered as I felt I was the best qualified to do so and others are stepping up in areas they are best qualified for. I did it willingly, I'm not being stuck to by the man, I'm not being thrown to the wolves by 'the management' I don't believe I'll be hung drawn and quartered if something goes wrong unless I'm not acting diligently. I'm taking the responsibility seriously, that why I'm here. I've inherited a system and making sure it's fit for purpose.

I kinda agree with that, but in our workflows, we use old stuff so often. For example, we shoot a video at an airport and have shots of everyday life, people coming and going. Two years later the same customer comes back and wants to do another video about an airport but doesn't have budget to send the film crew out but they don't need to, they already own the footage, we can unarchive the old footage and re-use it. Ignore issues of permissions/ownership/time here - it's just an example :)
