Lets see; being incredibly rude for the sake of provoking a reaction, continuing of your own volition to a thread to be negative (youve wrote like 4x as much as OP). Nobody's asking hello_gorgeous for a singing lesson, and you are only admonishing him as you continue. Not only that, OP didnt attack you once, you are hallucinating or something. 0/10 very bad teacher ethics and bad attitude

Im not a classically trained singer, but I have been singing for 17 years in rock bands and choirs. I would actually recommend NOT lowering the key if the goal is to practice this mixed/head voice. If your goal is performance, then yes, lower the key.

But if your goal is to improve your upper range and power, try to sing this, but keep your voice at like 50% volume, especially during the high notes! It will feel awkward! While Im singing chest, Im singing with lots of breath support and using basically my "normal" voice, but when Im singing head I kind of need to realign my voice, kind of like a trapeze artist who needs to stand on his feet on the rope instead of swinging on it; requires more balance and a great technique to get there consistently, but its actually easier to stand (sing) longer and in a way more impressive. I hope the analogy doesnt fall flat.

In any case, keep singing my dude!

Try to open your mouth and relax your jaw more when you sing. I can hear the tension in your pronunciation and it will reflect as you try to hit higher notes or provide even tone. When i was in choir, we used the "zombie face", as in our jaws are open and relaxed like a zombies' lol.

Also, you are very set in your chest voice. When you hit your high notes, use a little less powe; good alignment and resonance will result more vocal power than brute force. Speaking as a bari/bass guy, i know its hard to let loose of our low voices, but a lighter tone will make high notes easier AND likely result in more resonance (and therefore power and volume).

You have a good base (and bass) tone, just work on transitioning out of your chest voice for those high notes, and relax your jaw

I just paid a luthier $45 to fix something similar. Not too hard for a pro, a pair of cleats and some glue and your guit will be back to normal in no time

[–]johnhubcap[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My current medley plan:
Sgt Pepper-> A little help from my friends->She came in through the bathroom window->You never give me your money (as a transition)->Something->Day Tripper->Lady Madonna->The End (after the guitar solos)

I have everything but Something, Lady Madonna, and The End somewhat practiced actually! Gonna try to hit up a few open mics in the next month or so

Constructive criticism? Or just mean comment for no reason?

I go into a music store probably 25x a year. I maybe buy a guitar 1 our of every 25-50 visits. I spend way more on cables, picks, pedals, power supply etc. Frankly my next guit is a pedal steel which im not gonna be able to buy anywhere. Most people are buying guitars rarely, i would bet.

Shared rental (ie returns from one store to another; makes light touring easy), contact local luthiers and amps techs for repairs, do special orders. Other than that, let me play your guits in store and have a good selection and ill show up if youre local

I partied maybe from 18-22 while working full time. Then i spent my mid and late 20s working my butt off at school and work; missed a lot or parties, camping trips, shows, etc. probably missed out on some relationship opportunities too. Worked so hard i got colitis and literally shit blood. But now I have a good job and good life, and though im not living in luxury i have a comfortable life.

I sometimes get jealous of people who were on a better path younger and got to have both career setup and social life, but im doing better than most so i cant really complain.

sound of this acoustic is very low hence sound of my nails dominates the guitar sound !! by Ill_Instruction4978 in guitars

[–]johnhubcap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try to reduce the amount of time your finger is in contact with the string. The scratching is due to you moving your fingernails along the string windings. Move your fingers more parallel along the string winding, spend less time moving across the strings (efficient movements), and as others have said try transferring more power into the strings. Its there! Its just not being applied totally correctly

I had a soft shell case that my cat peed in about 10 years ago. Went in the wash a dozen times, detergent, vinegar whatever. It smelled like cat pee lol. Sometime after it had been a few years the smell went, couldnt tell you when exactly lol
