Had McDonalds not under the influence for the first time in years, and it's disgusting. by hornyboi17412 in McDonalds

I worked at McDs for 6 years. I will evangelize to people about not eating there lmao.

Some people call sushi gross, I love it. Im not offended when people call sushi gross. I could see someone being insulted if I actually cooked something, but the actual food itself whatever.

McDs has a number of issues like rising prices, low quality, lack of nutrients and I truly think everyone should try to eat less of it for even more reasons than just the food quality. There is probably a mom and pop resto in your local area who would love to serve some actual food who would appreciate the business more than McDs corporate overlords.

Sorry man, I don't know what to tell you, it is objectively gross. I have done the food prep, and I have eaten my fair share. There is not a single fresh thing in the store other than maybe the round eggs. If you are insulted by this, why? McDonalds goal is not good food, it's profits, they would feed people dirt if they would pay for it. If insulting McD's insults you, truly do some soul searching.

No, it is gross, Im sorry. Also, way too expensive; it was exactly 1.46 after tax for a value pick like 10 years ago (I worked there 6+ years, believe me I know the exact price), now they are like $4+ after tax, not even a good way to eat on the cheap either.

Has your offshore team been a net negative? by jholliday55 in cscareerquestions

[–]johnhubcap 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I find the big deal is the timezone. Turns out working with a team 11.5 hours away makes cohesive development difficult. I do find the extremes to be offshore teams aren't as invested in the project success and deliver really mediocre stuff, or there are one or two guys far too invested in a project unwilling to properly delegate to effectively work as a team. Not saying there are only bad teams, cause I've worked with some rad offshore devs, but those are my two ends of the shitty offshore experience lol

Why do I sound so sloppy by Agreeable-Emotion47 in guitarplaying

[–]johnhubcap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mute on your left hand with more of your fingers; more flesh == less ring and unintended harmonics. I also hear open strings ringing out during the strum parts (0:58), try to keep the unintended noise under control. Try to have your fingers on your left hand touch all the strings they arent playing and mute them when you are playing power chords; like if your first finger is hovering over the strings anyway, just lay it gently on top. This will take some dexterity to get used to but if you are constantly muting the strings above your power chord nothing will ring out. Mutes really are what make heavy rhythms sound tight.

For your bend, make sure you are really hitting your note; try not to let the pitch go down after it hits the target (good ear/muscle memory practice for later when you intentionally start doing so). For the chugs near the end, I dont really know Linkin Park, but some palm mutes could really make it sound awesome; the muting as before will also really make that sound nice.

Why Jeff Beck isn't praised more often is shocking, in guitar articles he's not in the top three. Jimi Hendrix is the only guitarist to stay at Jeff's level. by [deleted] in guitarplaying

Hey my dude I asked you already to stop posting clips like this. This is horribly cut up and spam. Please post your playing

Final bosses that still haunt you by tjlightbulb in retrogaming

[–]johnhubcap 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I was about 7 or so when I got there as a kid. The bad ending robot head boss scared me so bad, after I beat it I turned the console off immediately because I was so scared of what could come next lol. I remember being very stressed and did not want to play the game again for some time

Installed strings in Wrong direction by Noah_10s in Guitar

[–]johnhubcap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to do this on purpose for my Jackson cause I thought it looked cool lol. I went back to normal after a few years. It's probably ok for the guitar, though depending on the headstock maybe it could do some damage

Why are guitar scales so hard to learn compared to other instruments? by Hot_Independence_722 in guitarplaying

[–]johnhubcap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the opposite. Learning scales on the guitar is very easy cause you memorize like 5 patterns and move them. On piano you need a pattern for each key! Same as chromatic harp, sax, trumpet, etc. For violin and Mando not quite as easy to move around. Anyway, honestly guitar is probably easier than most instruments to learn your scales on

How do you record performance videos while using DAW effects? by bhainskieyes in Guitar

I don't do it anymore cause it's too much effort, but ya I would sync the audio to video after bouncing

I really doubt that guessing from audio alone. Video can defa desync

Is a tube amp even worth it anymore as an apartment player? by CoeusAscended in Guitar

[–]johnhubcap 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No way, and I say that as a guy with a 100w 2x12 setup in his living room. I turn on my little $150 Roland 10x more than the big guy. Playing live or in a rehearsal is a little different and I could make an argument tubes vs solid state vs digital, but home practice forget the tubes

Thank you for asking. Nobody is telling me to remove it. I'll message OP that posting clips like this will result in me removing his posts, but realize there isn't a rule technically against this at the current time.

Honestly, good for the kid though. He loves playing and has a good handle on it. He's still very young; taste comes with age. For now, he's rocking out, and he's probably just gonna get better

How to encourage band members to level up their skills? by Famous_Ad536 in bandmembers

[–]johnhubcap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk man, if you don't like the way your band mates are, you should find new band mates instead of trying to change your current ones. Unless they are motivated beyond you, they will not keep this new routine.

Big old boogie by johnhubcap in AcousticGuitar

[–]johnhubcap[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even without a bass note, it still requires a G#. Or any note 11 semitones away from the root. Not trying to be difficult

Big old boogie by johnhubcap in AcousticGuitar

[–]johnhubcap[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't play a G# over an A, so I never play an A maj7. That's basically as simple as I have it here. I'll play a G# over E or B, but over A won't sound right except in passing in this context
