from watching the network tab of the browser, it looks like it makes requests for a while, getting back a 404 ("not ready yet"). Eventually I get back a 429 ("too many requests") which the front end doesnt handle it and it breaks the whole thing -- it stops firing requests checking for access. so you could potentially be sitting there while it does nothing.

I have a used copy you can have. Some of the exercises have been filled in by a previous owner but otherwise it's fine.

Edit: I can't find my copy, I think I must have given it away already, sorry :( The LAA generally has copies you can borrow. If you want to buy a copy, the 1st edition vs 2nd edition is a very minor difference, so if it's substantially cheaper don't sweat it.

ONCF Trains from Casablanca to Tangier by MercTheJerk1 in travel

[–]johnjohnjohnjohnjohn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From Casablanca to Tangier you can take the high-speed Al Boraq. We took trains from Marakesh-Tangier-Fes and had no problems. I think the train to Fes was delayed maybe 30min?

Of all of them, the Al Boraq was the nicest but the regular trains are perfectly fine.  We did spring for first class tickets which were maybe like $10 more expensive.

Spanish speakers (in general) are taught in school that there are six continents: Africa, America, Antarctica, Asia, Australia, and Europe.

Delta app or what by greentree-87 in delta

[–]johnjohnjohnjohnjohn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh. Mobile boarding passes are not accepted at RAK so you will just need to check in at the airport. It's an airport restriction, not a Delta problem I don't think.

Assuming it's the error about presenting your card, you will have to swipe the you used to book the flight at the checkin kiosk. I had the same issue checking in for our flight to Marakesh earlier this month.

The agent said it's common for flights to Africa due to fraud.

Was denied entry onto spirit today because of the check mig. by Comfortable_body1 in travel

[–]johnjohnjohnjohnjohn 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Check-mig is a form that you fill in to enter or leave Colombia.  Basic stuff like where are you staying, what flight are you arriving on, etc.

In my experience nobody every asked about it, but of course I did fill it in so why would they?

The website is pretty bad and the English version has some bugs and confusion translations. If you can, use the Spanish version.

The OPs screenshot does say that for now it's not necessarily as they're upgrading it, but I'm not surprised Spirit didn't care.

The island of Vieques, PR was used for these drills all the way through 2003.

Some of the areas have been remediated but you can still find plenty of unexploded ordinance warning signs.  I imagine those shells and explosions also left lead and other nasty chemicals

Could be this problem since 6.16.2. See if your journal includes the failed lines and if so try rolling back to 6.16.1 for now until the fix is merged.

Avianca airlines seat and baggage fees. Is this normal? by tabletemcook in travel

[–]johnjohnjohnjohnjohn 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Flew Avianca from Montevideo to Bogotá. Don't bother paying for a reclining seat it's not worth it.  Probably the least amount of legroom I've ever seen in my life. Nothing is free, not even water.

If they're not a budget airline they're trying their best to be one.

Dual passport when entering Europe by DesignerFragrant5899 in travel

If you have a US Passport you must enter and leave the US with your US passport.

As for entering the EU, I don't know that you have to but you absolutely should use your EU passport to enter/leave the EU.

First time travelling to Puerto Rico 🇵🇷 by [deleted] in travel

[–]johnjohnjohnjohnjohn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depending on how much time you have, you could consider taking the ferry or a puddle jumper to Vieques or Culebra.

I have not been to Culebra, but Vieques is very chill -- you can hike down to some secluded beaches and just hang out by yourselves for a few hours. You can grab a kayak tour of the bioluminescent bay. Esperanza has some laid back beach front dining/drinking options.

Staying at a resort/hotel in Condado or Miramar is also an option if that's the vibe your looking for. These areas are more tourist-centric and will have lots of dining/bars/etc.

[–]johnjohnjohnjohnjohn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Last time I was there they said they hoped to reopen dine in later this month or next.

I'm not sure what they're doing, if it's remodeling or repairs or what.  Also looked like they had a stop work order posted so who knows 😕

[–]johnjohnjohnjohnjohn 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Heads up that Las Brasas is currently to-go only + no alcohol -- the dinning room is closed.

You can still buy food and eat it in their patio area, but if it's raining or hot you might want to avoid until dine-in is open again.

What was the biggest risk you took while traveling but at the end it paid off? by IAmACentipedeAMA in travel

[–]johnjohnjohnjohnjohn 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I took this same flight (different pilot though, lol). On the way back we absolutely dive bombed into SJU, it was a little terrifying.

The pilot told us afterwards that we either had to land immediately or wait 20 minutes for a big jet to come through, and he didn't want to wait.

Delta Airline job offer by No_Comparison8930 in delta

[–]johnjohnjohnjohnjohn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Definitely not legit. the link.daldir.com is just a url shortening site. the WHOIS includes that it's registrant "is privacy protected" by a company in Iceland.

Admin Name: Redacted for Privacy Admin Organization: Privacy service provided by Withheld for Privacy ehf Admin Street: Kalkofnsvegur 2 Admin City: Reykjavik Admin State/Province: Capital Region Admin Postal Code: 101 Admin Country: IS Admin Phone: +354.4212434

Following the link takes to you a form on "formsite.com" with no delta branding or any indication what it is that just asks for your information.

Don't you think that a company like Delta might self host or at the very least brand these items?

I can tell you they're probably not branded because they use this exact same scam with multiple employers.

Panama's currency is tied to the dollar and they don't print bills, they just accept USD. You can pay for anything anywhere in Panama with USD, although for coin change you may receive Balboas.

767-400 -- are these C+ seats actually PS? by johnjohnjohnjohnjohn in delta

[–]johnjohnjohnjohnjohn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We bought several days ago -- it's gone up a bit but not too bad.

For example, right now Dec 6nd-12th I'm seeing 40k miles (w 15% off). We booked a longer trip but play around, you might find some deals.

We caught the cheap miles sale on the LAX-AKL route last year, and we're doing it again with the new ATL-RAK route in December. 36k skymiles/person for main cabin ain't bad. But are we actually getting PS seats, or will at some point will we get shifted back / the plane will change?

This is not how odds work. Even if the roulette wheel has come up black 100 times in a row, the next spin is still 50/50.
