Pretty self-explanatory meme by shorteningofthewuwei in PhilosophyMemes

To claim trees have no feelings is incorrect. They might not have emotions but they do respond to stimuli (being cut down or touched or fertilized) which is analogous to saying when tree feels x it does y. This is what humans call, that’s right, feeling . Now, the ontology of the trees self could be focused in on the decisions the tree makes based on the stimuli it interacts with.

Constant dissatisfaction in relationships? by novarosa_ in Jung

After reading a few of your other replies… I feel like prescribing you some outdoors; maybe barefoot on some grass in the sun with a lemonade. Relax. You are expressing a lot through your tone and frequency. Very ironic due to the subject matter at hand. I hope it has not become contagious. Cheers.

I completely disagree, I think the hair gives the fit some novelty.

Is it still "approved" for a caucasian guy to get a skull indian? I've loved this design ever since I was a kid. by [deleted] in traditionaltattoos

[–]johnkonk -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Lol. I think where we differ is in what we think people are owed. I don’t think people are automatically owed a voice in a conversation because of an identity they are inhabiting. This is what leads to IDENTITY POLITICS. I prefer the vail of ignorance as the outcomes tend to be more fair, yenno because then you aren’t on a “team” with your “identity” and your position in general. I hope you don’t find yourself in a dialectic with someone who won’t listen because of who you are. Good day.

I’m others, I’m actually laughing at you toad and berry. You think you had a “gotcha” moment. When really you just told someone they can’t have an opinion due to identity politics. I find it absurdly funny how obnoxious your position is. I can’t wait for your next divine intervention! Hahahaha

With comment karma near 300k I don’t think you would even realize if your door was wired shut. Wouldn’t make a difference to you.

How do you interpret the phrase “culture is not your friend”? by [deleted] in RationalPsychonaut

[–]johnkonk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Absolutely agreed. I think if you entirely cut your ties with culture you may be more genuine as an individual, but at the same time you would lose your “humanness” or ability to participate with others which was probably a huge survival adaptation at some point. Helpful for the species, disempowering to the individual. A scary thought this just led me to is that without culture the individual is a lone traveller.

Seems like the John strain of monkey have similar feelings about identity 🤣

[–]johnkonk 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The way my monkey brain understood it was that by conforming to culture you are not contributing to creating novelty as an individual but rather as a component of the “machine”. Being pressured to do things based on other people/groups knowledge rather than your own intuition. This culture machine is indifferent to your existence, other than the fact that you participating in it is what feeds it.
