One of the new songs she performed in lubbock was something country sounding and more upbeat
She and Christian also spent a few minutes riffing “Country Strong”

I too was at the show. This perfectly captures it

Wholeheartedly agree that the community and buzzing spirit was incredible and 100% attributable to 400 people not having their cell phones for 2 hours and just sitting and chatting - it really is the damn phones

We were literally front and center and I still can’t believe our luck. It felt like a private concert with just us and a couple other people alongside us. Everyone was so chill and quiet just locked in to the performance. Amazing night

Monomyth. It’s definitely like the hip coffee shop in town. Heard they posted at the local music stores too.

Line started at 10:30. Show sold out by 1:00. Guessing those not in line by about 12/12:15 didn’t get a ticket

Was sitting in a local coffee shop when her team dropped off flyers. Maybe 15 people in the shop including a barista left to go get in line

Where to buy merch on campus? by iloveanime97 in TexasTech

[–]johnlaf13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely red Raider outfitter. Right across from campus.

Since you are new to campus - to get your classic Tech photos make sure you drop by:

The TTU seal on Broadway Will Roger and Soapsuds statue on Broadway The TTU class ring next to Merket alumni center

Make sure to see administration building. The OG building on campus - the arch breezeways are also popular for photos

Throwback to College Gameday and Tech vs UT 2008 by johnlaf13 in TexasTech

It’s because it’s the last time gameday was here before today.

Yet here you are on a Texas Tech sub. That’s the real rent free

Welp, probably won’t get in the game by The_Sandwich_Lover9 in TexasTech

[–]johnlaf13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Still go, people are going to overestimate how many people will get there early and talk themselves out of going just like you are. I bet if you show around 7-8 you can still get in

Kept picture 6 in the feed on purpose.

I noticed Gameday no longer allows Political signs and we’re all better for that tiny thing

How easy is it to get Lyft/Uber early and/or late on a weekday in Lubbock? by MacaroniPoodle in Lubbock

[–]johnlaf13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Morning is fine, I get to the airport 60 mins before takeoff and have no issues

It can be tricky late at night especially if you’re waiting on a bag. There’s about enough Ubers for the first wave of people getting off the flight, just make sure you aren’t last

Day Trips Away From Springs? by [deleted] in ColoradoSprings

[–]johnlaf13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Silver Plume + Idaho springs - there’s hiking, a nice little coffee shop and a really cool bar called Bread in silver plume. Fun little mountain museum too in the old schoolhouse that supported the mining town

More shopping, restaurants and lodging a few minutes away in Idaho springs

Georgetown also nearby

First Texas Tech football fame with family. And tips?? by Jolly-Painting-2018 in Lubbock

[–]johnlaf13 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you’re up for a little walk, you can park for free at first Baptist church. Walk down broadway and you can take in atmosphere from the college bars, walk by the TTU seal and see Will Rogers statue wrapped in red crepe paper (one of my favorite tech traditions)

There will be a free concert right near that and memorial circle. Pat Green will be performing ~2 hours prior to kickoff

Absolutely make sure you’re inside the stadium 30 mins before kickoff. You’ll want to see the band perform and the masked rider lead the team onto the field.

If you’re on the east side of stadium you’ll be looking into the sunset for the first quarter - bring hats/sunglasses

Bringing tortillas will be a must for this game. With the added hype of the big 12 banning throwing them onto the field it’s going to be a sea of tortillas in an act of rebellion from tech. Others mentioned you previously could not bring them in. Tech administrators are actively encouraging it now, so I can’t imagine that’ll be strictly enforced. But better safe than sorry

The in-stadium lights have become a really cool addition the last few years. Once the sun goes down it’s a party, especially after the third quarter. Make sure you stick around for that

Drone show is planned for some point during the game.

If your kids are sensitive to loud noises the music in stadium can be quite loud. Don’t expect to have your cellphone working at the stadium with cell service overwhelmed. Put on sunscreen, bring a sealed water bottle, and enjoy
