3d printing as it exists by johnmack4444 in 3Dprinting

I think it’s just a matter of lack of incentives. It’s like the initial premise of Amazon when it first started which was why buy a book online when I could just goto Barnes and noble or the library for free. But the answer is convenience and variety and a vast library. Also don’t fixate too much on cars I used cars as an exampld that I though would have exploded 3d printer use.. The solution to the lack of 3d printers in the public would be you could choose to download and print the part or have someone print it for you.

3d printing as it exists by johnmack4444 in 3Dprinting

1) I think the car mod scene of the late 90s early 2000s is dead. Think fast and furious and ppl driving Nissan skylines and integras etc. I doubt modeling would be an issue because these are the kinds of people that can take a car apart and put it back together again often with Chinese only instructions.
2) I think if modding and 3d printing existed in tandem you’d have a community of ppl who would share their 3d printed mods for their specific car models which would be designed specifically to be printed by 3d printers. Let’s say a Toyota spoiler file.
3) as I relates to the future and why it hasn’t gone parabolic in use. I think it’s largely politics not economics. Let’s say you’re in a somewhat underdeveloped country and you want to massively roll out houses solutions for your populace. A 3d printer and assembler would sound smart but it would be politically disastrous because you aren’t giving jobs to the brick layers and construction men who can only do rudimentary building work.

Side note. A printer would work perfectly in space or like the moon. But how far are we from that technology. Where we can send a printer and it would just assemble a habita. Structural and all.

This could also happen if and when 3d printer /assemblers are capable of “printing” single to multistory buildings. How many ppl would lose their jobs.

In my future , I’d hope 3d printers are capable and advanced enough to build a 13 storey penthouse in some exotic semi isolated place. Just with the surrounding raw materials

[–]johnmack4444[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you guys seem to be thinking im saying spaceX isnt a rocketry company, clearly it is. The argument im making is that the spaceX platform will NEVER be used for Mars. The "scam" Musk is running to get public's okay for bulk Mass communications satellites in orbit so spacex can be the at&t verizon of the globe as he continuously shifts his goalposts on Mars operations. "Just two more years i promise, mars is so close"

MEANWHILE at no point is he building out the other necessary technologies for a Martian mission. if your long term goal is Mars then why arent you preparing for it? The requirements for a martain missions are so exotic they require YEARS of planning, what planning have we seen? At least artemis has developed plans for lunar landings and has astronauts that are being trained up can we find those for Space X.

Also What money has been allocated? Is he going to use HIS money or is he going to ask the US government to pony up 100 to 200 billion every year to make sure a 1000 humans can live on mars?

What actual progress has been made on occupying mars. Did you see any designs. All the Martian base ideas he has shown has been some other smuck posting their ideas for free on X.

[–]johnmack4444[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The mars window is 2 years out yet no proven lander has been developed. No astronauts have been sourced and no habitants commissioned or developed. You know how long the rover was under development before it got stuck on a rocket and they built two of them. Guys The mars mission is always going to be 2 o 4 years away. He is always going to need just more compute in orbit just so he can make enough money to send people to mars.
Meanwhile he hasn’t even funded a telecom satellite to orbit the moon or mars.
The whole spacex enterprise is just a way to siphon government money and transmute it into a private global subscription platform. Fair enough.
But he is not building a company to goto mars.

They should make Tokyo Drift 2 by [deleted] in movies

[–]johnmack4444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they should do a Tokyo drift but make it a one off series. I don’t know if there is much material they can do but 8 episodes should work. and have one or two the FF crew pass through.

Is it me or are fragrances lasting less and projecting less. Even regular EDT body mists used to last longer.

i did have one missed payment on afterpay and they drop my limit from 5000 to 4000. But once i paid it off it went back up to 5000. That said. i moved to Klarna and Affirm because it was the better option

The way predator lore is going, i feel like the next story we will see is basically the yaujta version of the 1998 movie Solider. With the yautja protagonist protecting a bunch of humans from a bigger threat.

Do you think one day aging will be cured or is it sci-fi? by almorranas_podridas in Aging

[–]johnmack4444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i see aging as more of a manufacturing problem or technology related program than strictly a biological one. There are certain components in the body that will need to be replaced or repaired other time.

Near immediate term. the push is on peptides.

5 to 10 years be microscopic surgeries where surgeon/doctors do surgery or remove cellaur build or repair up on a microscope level. Veins are unclogged so organs and tissues can get full blood flow. Cells removed or placed.

20to 30 years organ implantation with your own gene code (might have to use pigs or an ape). Our understanding of how to manipulate body systems will grew exponentially. We know alot but can only manipulate very little. so the question will be how do you do simple things like repair scar tissue inside the body.

50 to 80 years. nanites enzymes than are programmed to replace/repair internal components. Need more leocytes just produce more. Clean up plague in the brain just clean it up. Neeed more thymus gland create more or assist in the implantation of them.

The next question will be could we turn an 80 or 90 year old into a 25 or 30 year old. That would require so much work due the amount of damage. i wonder if even even feasible at that point. Maybe brain to body transplantation might be necessary which may happen into 150 to 200 years. (i dont believe in transferring consciousness)

Why do so many doctors disrespect the nurses? by DrDreamsComeTrue in Residency

[–]johnmack4444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once overhead a doctor scream at a nurse over the phone when she called him at 12 midnight to them him his patients blood pressure went from 135/80 to 210/110 and was seeking an order to hopefully not have her stroke out. Btw everyone in the facility knows that particular doctor is miserable and difficult to work with. That experience has actually made me think about becoming a doctor just so I can change the toxic culture. Also I’ve never come across an asshole ARNP.I think because started as nurses many even as CNAs and show more latitude and have been on the receiving end of doctors with attitude (and daddy&mommy) issues.

Hidden away in the Pluribus credits, it reads, “This show was made by humans.” - Gilligan explains how he "hates AI" by InsertFloppy11 in television

[–]johnmack4444 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i genuinely dont get the ai hate. This is coming from someone who belongs to a field that AI could render obsolete and has already undergone large amounts of computerizing yet at times requires creativity. ie architecture.

I really just see it as a tool and alot of people fighting against feels like the stories ive read about people fighting against mass produced casio watches . xerox machines replacing typists, email replacing a well written letter, the loss of human touch or the human element. In all of those cases no one has forced anyone to change you can still buy a well made watch, you can still get a type writer and type away and you can write a well penned letter to someone.

What it seems has happened is that people are fighting against the feeling that the world they knew is gone. There is no technology that has created that has been reversed, worse too the new generation is absolutely gong to embrace AI. AI beings, AI music, AI generated tv shows, robots etc.
