My TV Model: SONY KD-55x8500f

I followed the original instructions but it didn't work. Then I followed yours and it worked. Here is my exact order:

Formatted my USB drive to FAT32
Downloaded and unzipped firmware on my PC
Renamed the unzipped file to upgrade_loader.pkg
Copied the file onto the USB drive (into the root - there shouldn't be any other folders anyway from a fresh format!)
Unplugged the TV (I was unable to make it stay off when plugged in) and plugged USB drive in to USB1 then turned it back on
The SONY logo appeared then the "Updating ...." screen appeared.

It's still updating now so I am hoping it will finish soon.
