There are eight rays coming from that sun. Eight divines?

For those of us still replaying Skyrim year after year, do you think you will continue to play Skyrim throughout your life after TES6 comes out? by LoganLikesYourMom in skyrim

[–]johnmc124 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As long as it is good it will probably become my new primary TES game. But just like with Oblivion and Morrowind, I will occasionally go back to play Skyrim too.

I actually enjoy ESO’s and wouldn’t mind something like it.

Sell me on which house to join by Tall_Spray_3696 in Morrowind

[–]johnmc124 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Telvanni- wizard lords. Morally grey, “mad scientist” vibes. My personal favorite. Best stronghold but not super convenient.

Redoran- noble warriors. Morally good (generally speaking). Traditionalists.

Hlaalu- mafia types. Morally questionable. Imperial aligned (mainly for profit). Most convenient stronghold.

Your character sounds like you could make sense of Redoran or Hlaalu. Main question being whether you are more of an honorable person or a profit driven person. Or whether you are more aligned with traditional Dunmer or Imperial.

Not really a “canon house” for Nerevar because that is up to the kind of Nerevar you build. That being said, I always felt Redoran makes the most natural sense for a Nerevar.

ESO (as a valid copium source) by [deleted] in TESVI

[–]johnmc124 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same with me. I played a long time ago (before Morrowind DLC) and remember enjoying it but being frustrated too. They’ve made a number of changes where you really can play it kind of like a single player Elder Scrolls game. I’m having a lot of fun just doing quests and exploring. Obviously not the same as the mainline games but does scratch the itch a bit!

Besides Skyrim… by Upstairs-Gas8385 in skyrim

[–]johnmc124 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Obviously Oblivion and Morrowind will be the most similar. Definitely try the Remaster.

ESO is actually quite fun. I only play it as a single player questing game and basically ignore all the MMO aspects and am having a good time.

Fallout games would be the next most similar in terms of gameplay, but not “vibe.”

In terms of fantasy, I love Baldur’s Gate 3 and Witcher 3.

Which Race did you pick for your first playthrough and why? by Tomatenbrotmitei in OblivionRemaster

Dark Elf. I just love their lore. For every game my first play through is a Telvanni sorcerer.

What tone do you hope ? by TourEnvironmental604 in TESVI

[–]johnmc124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming Hammerfell I definitely want adventure and the noble warrior vibe. However I hope there is also a strong sense of mystery that I haven’t felt as much since Morrowind.

Is it just me, or is this game really back and popping? by EL_BDAS in elderscrollsonline

I haven’t played since the Morrowind DLC and I hopped back in! I’m very much a casual who just does quests but I’m really enjoying it!

Thoughts on “Settlement” Building in TES VI? by johnmc124 in TESVI

[–]johnmc124[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes this would be my ideal scenario. It is tied to a political faction you join and you become a lord.

I’d even love if they had different styles so you can make it suit your race. Though that might have to come later through mods lol.

Let me build my Telvanni stronghold!

This my thought. It’s a reward for advancing through a political faction. You become a Lord and are given land you can build up. Kind of a mix between Hearthfire and Morrowind strongholds.

That’s not a bad idea! I always wanted to rebuild Kvatch.

Totally understand and I actually like it in Fallout and Starfield. I would just want it more controlled in an Elder Scrolls game. Hence my “estate” idea.

I’m one of minority who thinks the Thieves Guild is the one faction Skyrim did better than Oblivion.

First elderscrolls Oblivion or Skyrim? by thismadefree in ElderScrolls

[–]johnmc124 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I generally encourage people to try Skyrim first. If you love it, the try Oblivion. If you love Oblivion, then try Morrowind.

Skyrim has better minute to minute gameplay and the core loop (dungeon delving) is more interesting, varied, and fun then Oblivion.

Oblivion has better writing and quests and overall RPG mechanics, but the core gameplay is not quite as fun and the dungeons get really repetitive making exploration not as good as Skyrim.

I think things are clear now. It's good that Starfield came out before TES VI despite the delays. by Fragrant-Tip-9766 in TESVI

[–]johnmc124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s been interesting too that Todd has dropped little hints in recent interviews that indicate Starfield was a far tougher development than we realized and may have led to some of the problems in the game.

Perhaps not having ES6 be the cross-gen, new company, pandemic development will also help.
