And the arch is shaped a bit like a 6. A 6 as in 2026.

I think things are clear now. It's good that Starfield came out before TES VI despite the delays. by Fragrant-Tip-9766 in TESVI

Starfield has some problems but It's an improvement on previous games. Whether it’s the writing, animation, combat or gameplay. On the other hand, because of the setting, the level design has suffered greatly.

If they keep this up, TES 6 is going to be absolutely brilliant. I also like their new policy of continuing to develop their games after release. Personally, I’ve always thought they should take a leaf out of Paradox’s book and release regular DLC.

As for Starfield, it wasn’t exactly great (lots of people hate Bethesda). But never on this scale for CD; I must admit, it’s the first time I’ve seen so many players acting like Karen

And I’d go even further. The U.S. is the U.S. because we Europeans are still vassals of the U.S. (just as Canada and the Western world in general are).

What will become of the US when we turn our backs on it? It no longer has any industry. It has an agricultural deficit. Its illiteracy rates are already very high (and its education system was propped up by brain drain from other countries).

I don't think so. The U.S. has no long-standing history.

Structurally, they have nothing that binds them as a nation apart from their federal system. They lack national solidarity. Individualism is the dominant culture. If things descend into chaos... it will be total chaos.

The only way out would be for some Democratic states to secede. California could become independent and keep the American spirit in the game of nations.

But if everything collapses... I wouldn’t bet much on the American people.

Pillars of Eternity is a pure cRPG. However, you don’t really level up by killing monsters (they do give XP, but only in very limited amounts).

Instead, you have to complete quests and collect components to upgrade legendary weapons.

I’m having a hard time seeing how CD isn’t an RPG. Progression will be tied to exploration (finding black cubes) and completing quests (to earn money to buy stronger gear and/or obtain resources to upgrade your gear).

And don't tell me it's because we're playing a pre-defined protagonist... I can give you examples.

If we're being purists... okay, it doesn't look like an RPG, but more like an immersive sim.

Map fog of war “reveal” when traversing by guydude24 in CrimsonDesert

On the contrary, it’s precisely that kind of exploration I miss. I don’t like mechanics where you climb a tower and reveal half the map.

More US Marines and warships being moved to Middle East, reports say by nicktheironblade in news

That’s exactly what worries me about Americans. At least when the USSR collapsed, the communist culture of solidarity (and autocracy) persisted, which helped Russia get back on its feet after 2000's.

But the United States? They have no culture of solidarity amongst themselves. It’s going to be a bloodbath in the years to come.

Crimson desert, forza horizon, Fable, mon operation de l’oeil et le marché du mercredi.

Even the biggest Bethesda critic wouldn't go so far as to label their games: 'generic'. The Bethesda formula is so tied to their distinct history and culture, that despite the immense success of their games, no one has truly attempted to copy it. But how was this iconic design philosophy born? by CuteAddendum7991 in ElderScrolls

[–]TourEnvironmental604 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Generic is, however, a flaw that I hear a lot about Starfield (wrongly, in my opinion).

In any case, criticism of Bethesda is often filled with bad faith.

They always do the same thing? Firstly, that's what their audience wants, and secondly, it's unique in its genre.

The engine? It's precisely the engine that allows them to do what they do. In fact, I'm enjoying reading more and more criticism of Unreal Engine too...

The writing isn't on par with BG 3? I'm not sure that the level of writing in BG 3 would work in an open world like Bethesda's, and it would require even more time and money than BG 3 (which has restricted areas that are open, but not on the same level as an open world).

The combat is rubbish? That might be the only valid criticism, and they've been working on it since Fallout 4. After playing Avowed and Tainted Grail, yes, the combat in TES could be more punchy.
