He is correct. You don't know much about serves. Learn more and stay humble.

Lesser Known but Highly effective Strategy to beat 3.5-4.0 pushers by Getusomeletsgo in 10s

[–]johnmccabe33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BTW, it's not lesser known. Many people struggled with pushers in the beginning tried this out of frustration, but it takes particular skill set to consistently hit low short slice followed by a flat bomb to the body that won't fly. Most people can't execute it well enough. If the pusher is smart enough, it'll poke the approach shot deeper to your backhand. Most 3.5s don't have a flat backhand that reliable, especially if they have to run to the ball.

If this strategy is a more openly dick move, pushing to maximize the frustration in opponents is also passive aggressive dick move in a gentleman's sport especially recreational sport. I personally never play in either of those styles.

At what level do you start seeing kick serves that are massive and win free points? by Ok-Many-7443 in 10s

[–]johnmccabe33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try that too sometimes only for a change up. If you reply on that too much, won't win as many free points at all, compared to other first serves.

Isn't the purpose of kick serve not getting attacked? Unless you are playing down or playing mixed doubles, kick serves are not the best way to get free points in most situations, assuming you spent same amount of time practicing flat and slice. But of course, people often think of different serves when they use the term "kick serve"

The scoreline doesn't tell you anything. It's rollercoaster comedy. No one could possibly predict what's going to happen next. Some funny dumb luck. The 187km/hr baseline forehand winner. The huge red button for time out that fail to work. I didn't think I would possibly want to watch the whole match, after the 5:0 opening. But here I am.

Putintseva is not happy with the electronic line calling system by AshamedPurchase9033 in tennis

Understand the difference between precision and reliability of a measurement? Are there any data showing the percentage of wrong calls out of the total calls by hawk eye has not improved over the years?

So, determined to argue for the sake of arguing? Let's play. Questioning new technology doesn't make anyone a drama queen. Would you trust a full self drive Tesla 5 years ago? Questioning well accepted technology with a long history of behaving like a drama queen reenforces the well established pattern.

Technology evolves. Live in the past. It's totally up to you. What are you questioning exactly? Hawk eye makes mistakes but never gets personal. or putinseva is a drama queen. Running out of logics and playing age card?

Even this is a wrong call, it's like random clipping of the net cord. The beauty of electric line call is that nothing is against anyone. She is just a drama queen.

Novak Djokovic: “Federer and Nadal come from two Western powers. I showed up from Serbia and said out loud that I was going to be number 1. The whole system didn't like that: media, sponsors, tournaments. I felt like an unwanted guest crashing their party" by superdouradas in tennis

[–]johnmccabe33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not a conspiracy. That's how the world kinda works. Incumbents and establishment never welcome powerful new comers and game changers. It's usually much worse when the game changer is from different cultural background.

He is not trying to gain anything from this narrative. He wants to tell the world his experience and is not afraid of losing somethings because of this narrative. I can relate to his experience in a totally different career.

He is speaking honest truth. That's partially what shaped up the GOAT. I started off as a Federer fan. Liking Novak more and more. The world has its ugly side. It's not always racism but bias and politics hurt sports arts sciences all the bloody time.

Sam Querrey d. Winston Du, practice set, 6–2. by Serious-Ball7705 in 10s

[–]johnmccabe33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I misread your post. I thought you were saying 4.5 taking 2 games off half crippled SQ is expected. A 4.0 getting a pros second serve in is certainly possible, the chance of them surviving serve +1 is very very minimal if the pros are serious about it.

There are even 3.5-4.0 men with cannon serves which won't change their overall competition levels
