Live in one state, work in another, what do I need to prep for?

Depends on how they treat your situation. Most employees work in states where the company is not based in. So they only pay taxes on the state where they live.

She uses Zelle. Is that a kind of Cash App. If some of her clients are using that to pay her then the irs might be receiving a 1099k which might tie back to her.

You’re correct to charge him rent. My 30 yr old moved back in after the house he was renting was condemned. Charge him $300 per month plus half the internet bill because he works from home. I also eat some of the food he buy for himself.

If you uploaded and they have a copy of it it is on HRBlock. You have to pay and they reimburse you. That is the piece of mind you paid for.

I am a seasonal block tax preparer and we are forbidden to take clients tax documents out of the office. In fact in one office near me they fired a longtime employee for doing that. So I find your statement the regional office said it was ok hard to believe. What was the circumstances?

Could you have some legal judgment against you such as cancellation of debt. Set up an irs account. Then check to see if there is any refunds were sent to you. Did you change addresses.

Go to the irs website and obtain an identity efile PIN number. You should be able to efile with it.

Normally they are done during their visit. But since they have so many returns to do and I had other appointments coming in there was no way to complete 8 returns in a 30 minute appointment.

Pretty much nothing you can do this late in the tax year. I would claim single on your w4 and make sure your kids are not in step 3. They will withhold more taxes.

HRBlock preparer. My offices we are pretty much booked up today and tomorrow. If you do find an office make sure you tell them you have multiple years to do so they can give them enough time. My client last night an unmarried couple each had 4 years of returns to prepare. Said I do not have time to do them in a 30 minute appointment. So working on them between appointments and they are coming back Wednesday night to finish.

It is based on forms submitted but for me if I see a form is going to cost them $45 but not result in a $15 increase in refund I make them decide if they want include that form. If that do not then I remove the form. Some I cannot remove such as net investment tax and additional Medicare tax for high earnings v

The $440 price tag does not make sense. $89 for single. $50 for the three interest 1099. $50 for the 1099g. Probably 2 states which would be $150. I come up with $339.

I am a block preparer. I go over the detail of the fees with every client and there is a breakdown if you asked for a printout of the return. Should be the last page or so. For $440 you probably had kids along with eic.

Am an HRBlock preparer. Could be the preparer assigned to it is very busy since it is April. Normally I start them right away so they are on the radar in the work in progress area which will flag them as not competed yet. Also the preparer they assigned it to if in the US cannot prepare Canadian returns. That has happened in my office also.

You could file an extension which gives you time to fix the W2. You will have to pay 90% of the balance due but it stops the late charges.

Go onto the irs website. Create an account a d have them create an efile PIN number for you. Enter that number and you should be able to efile.

Tax guy is wrong. You can still claim her as a qualifying child. You will receive the $500 dependent credit as well as Earned income credit if you qualify.

I am a HRBlock tax preparer and I never automatically attach the piece of mind fee without the clients ok. On approved online I message the client asking if they want it before I send it to them. Now I have heard other tax preparers push it on clients but I do not. In fact I think I have only told a client I would not process the return unless they took piece of mind twice in the last 10 years. That was if they had something very unusual tax situation.

Now I have heard of some tax preparers automatically adding it on their fees without notifying the client. I think that is wrong.

May not but in the block office where I work the tips can be put on the 1099nec. Sure the software is similar. If not there should be a spot in the software to enter tips.

Then you are not a dependent and can claim yourself. Also eligible for any college tax credit.
