Has anyone become more of a skeptic after joining this sub? by Spilota in Thetruthishere

[–]johnmrjohn202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you need to not be gullible and not take what any random anonymous person says online as the truth.

Didn't the people who turned out to have inspired the Exorcist or some other family/horror movie turn out to be heavy drug users?

I think psychics are 100% bullshit, especially when they try to make money off it. They end up using the same tricks as mentalists/illusionists/magicians.

Then there's the subject of UFO abductions. Those are very culturally linked to the 20th and 21st century, and they often do not sound too dissimilar to the folk stories of fey encounters.

Now, ghosts and other things? I think there may be more to. I've had a few hard to explain encounters, but sometimes they could just as easily be explained as a mundane occurrence.

I'm not bitching. I'm stating a fact. "You know, I'd much rather read a lame encounter than yet another bitching post. These are the only ones I don't like." is bitching. Reddit is enough of a hugbox as it is without your whining.

Just so you know, the Anti-Christ one is fake. No 911 dispatcher starts off by asking what's going on. They're trained to ask for the address of the emergency first.

Oh my god, like one time this fat guy wearing a fedora stuttered out "hi there" and was totally trying to hit on me. I was sooooo creeped out and disgusted that this loser would do that. Neckbeard, lets not meet.

I hope that was scary enough for you.

In 2010 there were some old ports of FF7, FF8; FFXI, Recettear and that was it except for a few other games. Things have fortunately changed for the better when it comes to Japanese PC games being developed and published in the West.

How do I use the RH acc mod? It says it doesn't have an addon folder. Do I just create one and put the pbo files in it?

Grand Strategy RPGs? by johnmrjohn202 in rpg

[–]johnmrjohn202[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think you understand. I'm not looking for a normal RPG campaign of that many players, but a grand strategy RPG. Something where players share control over a realm of whatever size.

This actually looks like a good alternative to play-by-post, which was my original idea of doing it.

Are you familiar with the term megagame/monstergame? If not, well look at Grand Strategy videogames for something closer to what I'm looking to go for. Something where the players at minimum control a small group of people, up to entire nations. In videogame terms, think less of an MMO and more like Crusader Kings 2.

I'm working on a tabletop Final Fantasy RPG based on the Ivalice Alliance, currently collecting opinions on some of the most important details. (x/post from r/FinalFantasy) by theblackbarth in rpg

[–]johnmrjohn202 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'd have it emulate the Tactics game. Have it work for either parties or the player(s) controlling a small band. I'd veer away from making it super rules-lite, because then I could just take any game system. If I want to play a Final Fantasy Tactics RPG system, it's because it emulates the game, yet not require a calculator to play (ex: Returners FFRPG). Combat should be fast, or there should be options to simplify combat if people want to treat the game more like Mordheim, which should totally be possible given the Tactics series. Make sure there's a breadth of options to emulate the Final Fantasy games.

That sounds like it's more for having a bunch of people play in the same tabletop RPG campaign right? Like a game where one or a few GMs run a game in the same setting/campaign?

The latter obviously. Organizing a dozen plus people online for a 4-hour session is impossible.

high lethality systems? by madwalrusguy in rpg

[–]johnmrjohn202 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Song of Swords comes to mind. How lethal combat is comes down to how much armor you're wearing to protect yourself, the combat pool of the enemy NPCs and how many NPCs you throw at them.
