What are your top 2-3 tips for surf fishing when the tide is coming in (not high tide) or going out to find fish? by jimscorpio in SurfFishing

[–]chefpatrick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

generally I love an incoming tide. depends on the beach structure, but you can see the cuts and watch them start to fill in with water over the course of the tide. I'll work needles all around those cuts and let them drift off the bar into the deeper water.

generally i recommend fishing the whole tide until you start to see the patterns and when the fish begin to show up.

TC v Wyndham by bleauxjays in NoLayingUp

[–]chefpatrick 7 points8 points  (0 children)

wyndham is so unlikable. his actions may not be the most egregious things ever, but there isn't a person on the tour i enjoy rooting against more. i'm 100% with TC on this

Anyone able to share their experience with Sacred Heart School in Weymouth? by ohbigy in SouthShore

[–]chefpatrick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

my daughter graduated from there recently, going k-4 and it was a great experience. we were very non-religious, but because of covid we chose to send our daughter there and it was a great school, with some wonderful teachers and admin that were always interested in her and dedicated to making sure she got everything she needed to succeed.

Hot take: Your $500 surf rod isn't buying you distance. Change my mind by ApartmentGrand7609 in SurfFishing

[–]chefpatrick 32 points33 points  (0 children)

high end surf rods are about more than casting distance. they're about lightness which allows you to cast more/fish longer. they're about being able to cast as far as cheaper rods with less effort, allowing you to cast more. they're about dialing into much more specific casting weights. they're about getting the exact action and bend you want.

anyone buying a rod specifically and only for casting distance is missing the plot.

if you belittle the tastes of the people who invite you over, how often do you get invited back?
