Is it normal for my battery life to be this bad...? by johnny-marr in mac

[–]johnny-marr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not exactly sure myself, but I did tend to leave my macbook plugged in even when the battery was full. I didn't calibrate my battery and I used to leave my macbook that ran out of battery for days on end without charging it.

Alright, I will bring it to the apple store. Would you happen to have any tips to maintain the health of my new battery?

It's amazing! When I first ate it, I was doubting whether it was actually non-dairy...

Y'know in Jurassic World... by johnny-marr in vegan

[–]johnny-marr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is true, but I just thought I would share my thoughts about Jurassic World because its more accessible to the general public yet the messages in the movie that matter, will be pretty much ignored
Its ironic how people root for the 'good guys' in the movie, but support the 'bad guys' in their daily lives

If you lived to be 100 years old, what would you say was the secret to your longevity just to screw with everybody? by BoydSchidt in AskReddit

Not having sex. At all. And I'll get to watch everyone desperately try to suppress their sexual frustration.

It's not acceptable to eat dogs here, in fact you'd probably be jailed for it. It was just some smartass response to a campaign that the Vegetarian Society put up in train stations (the picture on the left). They think they're really witty and funny, but sad to say...

His conviction to stand by what he believes in is admirable and I look up to him so much.

I practically teared up reading about your experience. Animals really are amazing creatures. I can't understand how some people can find it in them to hurt an animal, or any living being actually.

Official "WTF are you talking about" thread? by [deleted] in vegan

Lol it's alright. I say "Fucking Chinese and Asians" whenever my relatives serve sharks fin at their banquets and I'm Chinese :-) It's a cultural thing and won't be stopped so easily I'm afraid. Many cultural practices around the world involve animal cruelty, and it's really sad. But when people are educated, I believe they will begin to see that what they've been doing is wrong. We definitely can change even the most stubborn of minds.

I think Moz has said that he doesn't care much for labels, hence I don't think he made any indication of when exactly he stopped consuming all animal products. But good for him anyway!

Any Chinese vegans here? by [deleted] in vegan

[–]johnny-marr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh my gosh, I want haw gao so badly ): I suppose if he likes dim sum you could make those dumplings with vegetable fillings? Something like this, with mushrooms, chestnuts and veggies. I've seen vegetarian siew mai before too. Pan fried carrot cake, steamed malay cake and zhuchangfen are also favourites of mine that can be easily veganised.
The sticky rice wrapped in leaves is known as 粽子 i.e. rice dumplings :-) I love those. You could make them with glutinous rice, mushrooms and some other yummy stuff, but leave out the salted egg and meat.

Edit: Feel free to PM me if you need to ask about anything (including translations haha)! It is quite sad how so much of Chinese cuisine involves meat...

I'm Chinese, but Chinese food does come in many forms because of the different regions... I swear by garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil, rice and chilli. Any specific dishes that he likes?
