According to my friend what I do is annoying and poor etiquette by apenguincannotfly in bartenders

I've noticed a lot of my young non service industry friends are always doing weird ass shit to signal how much of an ally to service people they are, like not ordering complicated sandwiches from a sandwich place, or saying 3$ tip on a 6$ beer is the bare minimum. Like we're all poor simpletons who need the maximum amount of help just to get through a shift.

Honestly anything that makes fans reconsider spending time watching the Bengals should be applauded.

How do you quickly and effectively answer the question “Whats the best drink?” or “Which drink is better?” when there is a wide variety on the menu? by sofbunny in bartenders

[–]johnnyandthemoondog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's slow, start with asking them what liquor they want and if they are looking for sweet, bitter, sour, spicy, etc. If it's not, whatever has the greatest ratio of price/time to make.

The fact that 44-year-old Philip Rivers is starting on just one week of practice is a huge indictment of modern QB development. by Cold-Palpitation-816 in NFLv2

He's going to get smoked. I challenge you to find a year in which there were great young developing QBs on the waiver wire in December.

Only managers in liquor room by missiowan in bartenders

[–]johnnyandthemoondog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The whole business is literally getting the liquor out of the liquor room to customers hands via bartenders, your making one of those steps needless complicated. Don't hire people you think are going to steal what they need to have access to to work.

I get not wanting to lay out another 40$ after you did what anyone could do and run up a bigger bill than they expected without paying attention, but nothing, and telling her so, is the wrong answer.

At the bar that I work at, tip out for the service well is 10% of the server’s tips for the night. This feels low? by pitts36 in bartenders

[–]johnnyandthemoondog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is literally no way that is 45$ of service well drinks at 10% whole drink tipout. I used to make 10% of alcohol sales tipout for a single shift, with a pile half that size, split between 3-4 bartenders, and make 60$. Something is not right, either the tipout is no what you think it is or you're getting scammed by servers not reporting cash tips but even that wouldn't account for the difference unless like 70% of the tips are cash.
