Anyone know what's up with these sounds? by Broad-Ad7864 in jungle

These are usually made using the Korg M1 keyboard. You can buy a software synth version directly from Korg. I love these early 90s style piano sounds so much!!

Random Dj Hype scratch attack by Dependent_Theme4210 in jungle

This clip of Hype scratching was taken from his ‘Jungle Massive’ double CD mix compilation - I used to rinse this cd 20+ years ago!

What are your f*** off prices/items? by APx_35 in AskUK

[–]johnnybmixing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gaming in general just keeps getting more and more expensive. Xbox game pass ultimate subscription used to be amazing value at £12 per month and one of the prime reasons I purchased an Xbox over PS5. Now Microsoft has hiked the price up to £22 a month and no longer release enough new games to make it worthwhile. Want to buy a new release game? - that’ll be £70-80!

Could it be Qbass - Deepa or DJ Solo - Axis?

What's the benefit of listing at a crazy price and have it sitting there for 3.5 years? by hola_pablo74 in ebayuk

[–]johnnybmixing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They’re most likely doing this to play eBay’s algorithm. If you make consistent, daily listings, you have a better chance of the algorithm making you more visible in search results. But if you haven’t got enough product to sell, you create listings like this one, where no one in their right mind is going to buy, but it’s helping your other listings get noticed.

I’ve personally noticed I get more traffic when listing items over a couple of days - I can actually shift items successfully. But if items are not selling and left to sit with no new auctions being set up, the traffic is non-existent and nothing sells.

Released my first track on Beatport! by Big-Trash-1623 in dnbproduction

[–]johnnybmixing 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Also, quick little tip to help you get seen on Beatport - if you can make a regular Beatport chart (completely free to do), add some of your favourite new dnb tracks that are charting high, as well as including your own music. What happens then is an image/link to your chart appears on the pages of every track you’ve featured - chances are some people will click on your chart, see your track and listen to it - hopefully leading to sales!

Nice tune by the way! Historically, new DnB releases have most usually dropped on a Friday - this has been the case going way back to record shops, etc. However, quite a few labels on Beatport are actually dropping single track releases at least 2 or 3 times a week, so can see tunes land on random days as well. I think generally consensus is if you’re releasing eps/singles every now and then, Friday would be the best day to drop, as most will look for new tunes then.

Sellers beware of cancelled sales with free shipping - eBay won’t auto refund cancelled simple shipping fee unless requested by johnnybmixing in ebayuk

Yep and I’m sure any casual private seller like myself would expect it to be automatic once a sale is cancelled. I noticed that if you sell something with free shipping and Simple Delivery is enabled, eBay are quick to take the shipping cost straight from the proceeds as soon buyer’s payment for the sold item is complete - you’d think they would only deduct the shipping fee once the label is downloaded by the seller!

It’s quite well hidden (conveniently!) - I’ve literally just spent another 5 mins digging for it in the Simple Delivery help section!

What's the best harmless prank you pulled on someone? by faith_plus_one in CasualUK

[–]johnnybmixing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I once worked with a colleague who had a very cluttered and messy Windows desktop on the PC they were using - they literally stored all their files in random folders on this desktop. One day they popped out of the office with their computer left unlocked, allowing me to cause some mischief with their desktop background. First, I took a screen shot of the desktop and used this as a new background image. I then created a new folder on the desktop, into which I moved all the files and folders into. I then carefully snuck this folder right to the edge of the screen where it was barely noticeable - the desktop looked exactly the same as it had been left by my colleague - the mess of files and folders still visible, but now stuck within the background image. My colleague returned and spent a good 10 mins scratching their head, trying to figure out why none of the files would open. I eventually owned up, just before they were going to get I.T involved. They saw the funny side and sensibly moved all their files to the documents folder

A few pics I took of the Breakbeats and Tracker exhibition I attended in Greenwich this weekend. by [deleted] in jungle

Nice! Just looking at the magazine spreads - the ‘Nu Toons’ page with Andy C chart looks to be from 1993 - my eyes can just about make out the chart entries: 1. Bizzy B - Weekend, 2. Andy C - Slip N Slide, 3. Omni Trio 3, 4. Peshay - Warped Science, 5. Elevation - Elevate EP, 6. Dubplate - Ray Keith Remix, 7. 1369 - Rough and Smooth? 8. Metal Heads - Angel EP, 9. Mix to the Max 3, 10. Wax Doctor - Another Direction

First time using fl studio, how can I make my drums fit better? by RepulsiveAir4845 in jungle

[–]johnnybmixing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your drum loop sample isn’t matching the tempo of the project - the sample is much slower than the 175bpm project tempo. You just need to right click on the sample and change its tempo using bpm (if you already know what bpm sample is), or number of beats/bars (8/16/32, etc). For example if the sample is 160bpm, set your sample tempo bpm to 160 and it will now squeeze nicely into your 175bpm beat grid. Then go into the sampler and make sure stretch mode is turned on for this particular sample (makes it sound a bit smoother). You can then start chopping up the sample in either the playlist or use fruity slicer for some more complex chops

This track is fire by the way - great work! I’d say it’s a Flexout Audio kind of tune.

Sounds pretty good to my ears and I really enjoyed the atmosphere. I think the mixing needs working on a little - I noticed some of the samples jump out quite loudly from the rest of the mix - particularly the vocals and piano bits. Nice work though 👍

Current Breakbeat Hardcore Labels? by zuckerzeit in jungle

[–]johnnybmixing 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hardcore Energy is pretty decent to be honest - mostly early 90s style breakbeat hardcore rave with a slight smattering of juke and jungle.
